Context is extremely important, I said in that thread I saw no hope for the 2022 season, it was a thread regarding the 2022 season. Trevor wasn't the only thing that made me think the season would be a wash. But, Trevor played horrible in 2021, he did not show much promise in his rookie year thus no, I had no faith in the team winning much in 2022. You seem to be trying to spin this into me saying "I have no faith Trevor will ever be good" which is inaccurate, like I said. Go back to that thread and read the title/discussion. This was not a thread about whether or not Trevor will ever be good, it was about the season in general. And no, 95% of jags fans did not think we were making the playoffs in 2022 prior to the season. When it comes to record breaking contracts and all that can really hamper your teams ability to move forward IF that player isn't a bonafide elite QB. He very well may be that, but all I was saying is it's far to premature to label him that right now. I absolutely feel much more hopefull about the direct he is going than I did this time last year, and I expect that to get better with the addition of Ridley and ofcourse him being more comfortable in Dougs offense. I don't have doubts, I have no doubt he will be a solid quarterback. But as of July 30th 2023, I cannot with a straight face say that i'd be comfortable making him the highest paid QB in the league based on what we've seen thus far. I don't know what's so hard to understand about that. (07-30-2023, 08:49 PM)Charlie Sheen Wrote:(07-30-2023, 04:40 PM)The Real Marty Wrote: We can't sign him to an extension until after the season. Them's the rules. Has to be after year 3. So you have nothing to worry about on this particular matter. Exactly. A QB who looks to be getting better, but yet has 37 TDs and 25 ints and 10+ fumbles does not deserve a record breaking contract, that's my entire point. He needs to go out this season and be a lot better than he was last year and much more consistent to even be thinking about that kind of contract. |
