Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

This confirms and cements my concerns even further.(11-13-2023, 11:04 AM)SuperJville Wrote: No - i'm just saying that franchise QBs elevate the team around him. I don't think Trevor is elevating the O-line's play, I don't think he's elevating the receiver's play either. I think he's playing like a middle of the road QB, and has for the vast majority of his professional career, even if I take out the disaster that was his rookie season. Who do I want my QB to be? Trevor. He has shown that he can win and can be clutch, so I am all for continuing to develop him and give him as many weapons as possible.Except that's not what you said. Lack of motion, lack of creativity, lack of trying different things with your best football players on offense. Personnel management has been bad this year. The offensive line is bad. We see that. But, outside of running rub routes and pick plays [they got away with one yesterday on Kirk's long catch], they seem flat. It's a soup of issues. Right? QB play is up and down. That's on Trevor. Personnel management and lack of movement. That's on game planning and play calling. Lack of push or protection up front? That's obviously on poor line play which has been the most consistently major issue this year through nine games. Said it earlier. Doug, Press and Trevor need to have a meeting privately and have a come to Jesus moment with eight games left. Accept what the offense is. Which all starts up front. They need to figure out what works and doesn't work. It's going to involve Lawrence having to do more with his legs and rolling out more. He's at his best when he's outside of the pocket. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king." |
