Since these rules exist in your head only, nobody else is required to play by them.

Two early thoughts about the game that come to mind is this would be an ideal time to try to take advantage of the size and running skills of Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon.   Nothing can prepare the Packers for the heat and humidity they likely will experience in Jacksonville a week from today.   The longer the Jaguars Offense is on the field,   the more gassed the Packers are going to be.  Sustaining drives would be huge.

Also,  it's imperative to keep Aaron Rodgers in the pocket.   He's often deadly when he breaks contain.  A concern is the inexperience of some of the Jaguars DEs.   The coaches need to pound it into their heads that they must stay discipline against Rodgers.

To put this in perspective of the regular national NFL fan, on the nfl.com's "NFL Survivor" fantasy game, the MOST picked team for Week 1 is the Packers over the Jaguars at 26.5%. There are more people picking the Packers than people picking the Seahawks at home against the Dolphins.

Maybe we should take that into context and reset our expectations.

This.

If we win, I have to believe it will be by running it down their throats, keeping their D on the field and keeping Rogers off it. September in Jax against the best shootout team in the NFL is a perfect time to cash in some of those millions spent on Chris Ivory. Lets dust off an old Jack Del Rio gameplan.

1. Run early and run often. Ivory and Yeldon need to do a damn good impression of Fred and Mo

2. Mistake free football in the passing game. It will be hard enough to beat GB, sacks and turnovers will kill us.

3. Don't let Lacy get going. The Packers like to establish the run, if they do, they probably win.

4. If we achieve 3, get off the field on 3rd down. Stopping the run should lead to some 3rd and longs. A serviceable defense stops some 3rd and longs occasionally.

5. Have fun. Its game 1 against one of the best teams in the NFL. We aren't expected to win and its not the end of the world if we don't so enjoy it even if that means watching Rogers tear us a new one.

It's coming to Game 1 and it's real.

I hope Gus can get  the team to understand this......they can do this....they just have to want it and play as a team.

It's time Jaguars ......show the world what you have.

Most here are talking about defending Aaron Rodgers and their passing game, but my big fear is #3... I fear Eddy Lacy is just going to run over us at will. He's been an absolute raging beast this preseason.

That's pretty much the only way we can win

On offense - Run the ball all day. Bortles doesnt need a 400 yd 4 td shootout with Rodgers or we will likely lose. Run the ball and keep Rodgers on the sideline. If we eat up clock and finish with TDs we got them. If it turns into a shootout we lose.

On defense- We cant just pressure rodgers or he will escape and eat us with improve. We need discipline on the dline and toughness in the secondary. Need to keep Rodgers surrounded and in the pocket even if we arent getting to him. Secondary needs to get a bit schoolyard and rough up the GB WRs at the line.

Every game comes down to 1 thing. Score more than your opponent anyway possible. I feel we can do that with any team in the NFL.

Though what you mentioned with key # 2 would apply in almost any NFL game,  it's certainly more pronounced against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers than typically is the case.

Another real danger of turnovers is if the Packers are playing with a 2nd half lead,   that's when more turnovers could easily come as Clay Matthews,  Julius Peppers,  Mike Daniels,  and co. can tee off on Blake Bortles instead of having to respect the Jaguars running game.

After being overweight last season and in Mike McCarthy's doghouse as a result,  the Green Bay spotlight is certainly on Eddie Lacy this season.   He indeed has the ability to be a force with his weight under control,  being motivated,  and playing in the same Offense as Aaron Rodgers with a recovered Jordy Nelson back.

If the pieces fall into place for the Packers Offense and the rest of their team holds up their end of the bargain,  their Offense is going to be a tough test for any NFL Defense they face.    For the Jaguars to win this game,  they probably will have to shorten the clock.   One of those historic long drives from the Jags 2006 and 2007 season would help greatly.
