idk why they would really consider him. Ryan Kerrigan has been a consistent pass rusher for awhile and Preston Smith just hit 8 sacks as a rookie. Unless theyre thinking about him as an end and not a olb but i still dont see it being worth it.

Dave talked more about this on the Gus show last night.

 

Basically he said they wanted to kick the tires because he was an available guy who had performed at a high level in his career.

 

He said they wanted to know in advance should they get into the season and need to fill a hole due to injury, etc. that the process of vetting him would be already done.  That instead of having to do the homework they could simply be in a position to pull the trigger (or not) if they had a need.

 

You could sense the tension in the room when Lageman was very vocal about how he wouldn't even consider talking to him.  I don't think Dave appreciated being so forcefully opposed on air, but did a good job of being civil when I believe he felt a bit insulted.  Logs was pretty passionate, and I was a little suprised too.

 

Both made good points, though.  Logs pointed to Gregory, his former teammate, and how you can't ignore traits that just keep coming to the surface and being perpetual issues.
