Anti-Trump movement fails

GOP leaders kill plan by anti-Trump movement to unbind delegates' votes

A committee at the Republican National Convention defeated the effort by anti-Donald Trump conservatives to derail the presumptive GOP nominee’s drive to secure the party’s nomination, voting late Thursday to rebuff their plans to let delegates vote for any candidate they’d like.

Instead of a sign that says "Do Not Disturb" I need one that says "Already Disturbed Proceed With Caution."

the fact that an amendment was proposed that would allow delegates to ignore the vote of the people is ridiculous. thankfully there are still enough decent people in the committee to vote it down.

Just shows how smart Trump and his campaign are.

When they announced Cruz was speaking at the convention, this was done.  Most polls show Trump slightly ahead, statistically tied, or within real striking distance.

To have the groundswell that you would need to unseat Trump after getting 4 million more primary votes than anyone in the history of the process would mean that you would have had a Hero candidate to draft in his place and he would have to be showing in the high 20's or lower against Clinton.  Neither of those two materialized.

That would have been the end of the Republican Party if it's not dead already. Democrats already essentially appoint their nominee. If the Republicans began doing it as well you'd finally see the rise of a legitimate 3rd party. And I'm not sure a 3rd party that got a significant amount of votes would be a good thing.

How could the beginning of the end for this horrendous two party system ever even possibly be a bad thing?
