Brandon Brooks- Houston Texans guard

#1

I know a lot of folks on here are high on Keliche Osemele, as they should be considering he's a really good player, I believe his price tag will go up exponentially as there will be teams looking to sign him to play LT. I'm not sure how good of a LT he'll be considering he's only played that position a couple of times. The guy I'm interested in is Brandon Brooks, he's a dominant Guard that would instantly improve our run game, he won't cost as much as Osemele but is the same caliber players, as a guard. Signing Brooks would also significantly weaken the Texans OL, as he was arguably their best linemen last year. What do you guys think?

I agree with you. I've said multiple times that this is a loaded guard class outside of Osemele so it's not imperative that we pay him elite LT money like he is being offered from the Ravens (although I would offer him ~10 mil/yr to make him comfortably the highest paid guard in the league right now...and he'd pass to take the LT money). I wouldn't call anyone else on the market dominant, but lots of very good.

In addition to Brooks there is Jeff Allen, Alex Boone, Amini Silatolu, and Michael Harris that were actually all rated higher than Brooks by PFF last year and all are 27 or younger.

If we want to go with the just past their prime but still very good there is Ramon Foster, Geoff Schwartz, and Tony Bergstrom that were highly rated and 29-30.

And if Dave is truly interested in the 1-2 years left old guys that could help win now like he sort of suggested then Evan Mathis and Richie Incognito were both fantastic last year...though it's highly possible Mathis is retiring off his SB win and Incognito will be ring chasing.

Yea, I don't think we should break the bank with Osemele; with other good prospects out there that are way better than Beadles. I'm still not sure if Cann is the answer at Center; so I'd put center as a more needed position to sure up first. But I wouldn't be against this move!

GO JAGS!!

I've argued this as well.

The very little I've paid attention to Brooks, he sure seems to get good movement. We could use that.
