It's a good hire because he's not going to be the GM and has qbs that fit the spread offense

Must mean he has no shot at being their coach then.

Interestingly, this could be just what Gabs needs. You see, watching Mariota I'm keep being reminded of watching Gabbert. Their similarities are abundant aside from MM being more accurate in his short game with an even quicker release. The thing is, Gabs does ok when he drops back, turns and throws to a target, and that's what Chip is all about at the qb position. Where Gabs gets in trouble is when guys aren't getting open and he has to tuck it because he can't feel pressure. At that point, you can expect disaster. But Chip's quick strike offense just might be an ideal fit for what Gabbert actually can do. Blaine throws a beautiful pass as far as how the ball looks in the air. His struggles with accuracy have been an issue when he has to find guys, but he can throw to a spot very well especially when protected. Some of you may recall his workout soon after the combine that prompted him to get drafted so high. Without pressure, he nailed every throw. Gabbert can actually throw a much better fade pass than Bortles. On his feet, Gabs is also fast so on a called run he can tuck it and get to a spot fast. While he can't judge where guys are coming from to elude defenders, if Gabs hits open space he's outrunning the bigger defenders. While Blaine has close to zero downfield vision to access what's happening, in Chips system he can practically close his eyes and just throw where he's told to throw. It's up to the receivers to win and make it to the spot.

Are they good at catching rockets?  Blaine has no touch.

Reports state Chip Kelly will be great for Coilin Kaepernick. Obviously people think Blaine Gabbert is headed back to the bench.

It's a pretty safe bet unless the 49ers still plan to cut Kaep.

Colin Kaepernick is one of the major reasons they hired Chip Kelly.

I get a chuckle out of all these articles talking about how "deadly" Kelly's offense w/ Kaepernick will be.

Color me skeptical.  Nothing but hype at this point.

It'll be deadly.
