Quote:  If WR Alshon Jeffrey is able to play in this game for the Bears and isn't significantly limited by his injuries,  the Bears have a realistic chance.   W/o Jeffrey at a relatively healthy level,  I would be surprised if the Bears won the game.

The Packers Defense is playing better of late after having problems in their two previous road games ( Broncos and

Panthers ).   That,  combined with Eddie Lacy having his best game in a long time ( in Minnesota ) after sitting out against the Lions the week before,  will probably be enough for the Packers to win this game when the dust settles.    The emotion of Brett Favre night,  with Bart Starr being present,   could easily give the Packers an emotional lift in what is clearly a very important game for them.

theres plenty of news that the Packers entire offensive line is beat up and Rodgers still has phantom, questionable injuries. I'm taking the Bears.

the barely beat Chicago last time when they were supposed to be at full strength

All signs point to both Alshon Jeffery and Matt Forte playing. Mike McCarthy sounded noncommittal on his starting running back, but after watching Eddie Lacy last week, I expect to see a lot of #27. Watch both offenses.

Unfortunately for the Chargers, retiring a player's number did not help at all. However, LaDanian Tomlinson was just a great running back, not the kind of special player Brett Favre was in Green Bay (no offense to Chargers fans).

GO PACKERS!

What phantom injuries? You must have Aaron Rodgers confused with Andrew Suck.

One major loss the Bears are going to have to overcome is TE Martellus Bennett is out.  Also,  even if OLB Pernell McPhee,  their best pass rusher even plays  ( he's questionable with a knee injury ),  it remains to be seen how effective he will be.

The Packers definitely have injury issues.   I did watch their first game against the Bears and agree that the Bears were very competitive in that game.   While this should be a much closer game than when these teams played last season,    I think the Packers should have enough on both sides of the ball to get the victory.    I'm impressed that they handled the Vikings on the road and believe that the momentum from that game will help them on Thanksgiving Night.

The Chargers season has been derailed by injuries.  Wild horses couldn't have helped them against a Chiefs team that's playing as well as any team in the AFC in the last month.

NFL.com says Calvin Johnson was limited in practice and Darius Slay "upgraded" to full participation. The Lions expect both players to play.

The website says this about Chicago's injury report:

Quote:Bears tight end Martellus Bennett has been ruled out of Thursday's game against the Packers with a rib injury. Running back Matt Forte (knee), wideout Alshon Jeffery (groin/shoulder), linebackerPernell McPhee (knee) and safety Antrel Rolle (knee) are all questionable. Wideout Eddie Royal(knee) and running back <a data-ipb="nomediaparse" data-cke-saved-href="http://www.nfl.com/player/ka" href="http://www.nfl.com/player/ka" deemcarey="" 2543551="" profile"="">Ka'Deem Carey (head) are out.

The website says this about Chicago's injury report:

Calvin Johnson was questionable with an ankle injury the previous two weeks and was in on almost every Offense play.    The short week is a concern but beat writers that cover the Lions believe strongly that he will play against the Eagles.    The fact that Darius Slay wasn't limited in practice on Wednesday is a good sign that he will play in the game.   How much the respective injuries will adversely afect them assuming that they do play remains to be seen.   Anytime a player is dealing with an injury that results in him being questionable on the weekly injury report,   there's cause for concern.

Not anytime, but often it does. Remember the old Brett Favre? He played with a lot of injuries that normally would rule players out for extended periods, which is one reason the Packers are retiring #4.

Bruce Arians said about two years ago he hates Thursday night games. One reason for that: Players are ruled out with injuries on the short week, but could have played on Sunday. I don't know if that ever happened but it makes sense.

Brett Favre's ability to play with pain is certainly one of the reasons why he will likely be a first ballot HOFer and like you said having his # 4 retired by the Packers.

What Bruce Arians said two years ago is the case often with NFL players.   The extra time to get ready for a game when dealing with an injury can make a huge difference.

BTW do you care if the Bears or Packers win?

It probably won't matter from a Lions standpoint,  barring something very unexpected.   But because the Lions haven't been eliminated yet from the playoffs,  I plan on rooting for the Bears.

The Lions will not be eliminated for a while, It seems Jim Caldwell will be the one out of there.

Sanchez is playing. That's all you need to know.

Also need to know of well Sanchez can play with backups all over the offense.

One more question: Of the three Thanksgiving Day Games,  which team will benefit the most be winning their own games? These nor the same titans Jeff Fisher took to the Super Bowl

Quote:At present, New England has too many injuries to be the most complete team. They have major issues at WR and on the Offensive Line because of injuries. Carolina doesn't have a big time passing game. Both those teams certainly have the potential to win the Super Bowl. But in terms of balance on Offense and Defense combined, the Cardinals seem to have the best combo in the NFL going into week # 12.

The Panthers are #3 in offense and #5 in defense. So there goes that argument.

Just for the hell of it..

Not trying to get in any "argument" here:

IMO, the Cardinals offense is the better unit, while the Panthers defense is the better one. They are both outstanding units.

Obviously,, the Panthers offense and Cardinals defense are terrific units in their own rights.

But:

Better Offense - Cardinals

Better Defense - Panthers

As long as Palmer and Newton stay healthy,, both those teams have excellent shots at getting to the Superbowl.
