Quote:Well country music other than I shot the sheriff I can't think of what song you'd e referring to?

I'm not agreeing rap is the reason theses cops or cops in general are attacked I'm just saying there's a different in rap and country.

Bob Marley and Eric Clapton were or are country music performers?
be missed
Quote:It's not hard to follow. WingerDinger said that if you ask a gangster rapper, they could define what thug culture is and how it is celebrated. Nowhere did he say that thugs are only gangsta rappers and their followers. Terrible attempt at a spin.

Who said it was hard to follow? Is that a round about way of saying I'm not smart? Lol.

Then why are they the only ones represented in his answer? Are they the only ones that can define it and how it is celebrated? If not, why were they the only ones he mentioned?
Quote:Ask any gangsta rapper or one of it's fans..

You read that two black men were arrested and charged with murder of policemen in Mississippi and you automatically assume they were gangsta rapper fans?

Nowhere did he say that.
Quote:It's just not right to say that black thug culture is the predominantly celebrated criminal culture in this country. It's the truth and we live in a society that isn't permitted to speak that.

Yup. I'm a huge rap fan and violent crime is still very celebrated in the culture. The Smack/URL scene is known for being primarily about "gun bars". Anyone who denies that is simply wrong.

You can really spot the posters who love to put words in other people's mouths to fit their own agenda..
it's ashame

I stand corrected. He merely provided an explanation of The Drifter's generalization.

That was my bad. My apologies.
Quote:I guarantee this issue has more to do with drugs than these two idiots listening to "see you again" or whatever the top songs are and saying "der i wanna kill some cops."

I believe this issue has more to do with the last couple of months worth of police brutality issues being publicized..

Gangster rap is known for promoting thug culture. Country is not. If I'm going to ask someone to describe thug culture, I'd get a more reliable answer from Hitman Holla than I would from Kenny Chesney. Keep trying to spin, though.

No problems..
Let's be fair to country music. It has historically confined its support of violence to the domestic variety.

I wasn't referring just to illegal things necessarily. There are lots of legal things that send the wrong message.

I'll have to do some lyrical research, but you would be amazed at how similar some of the messages are in country and rap music. They are just packaged differently.

One thing amazed me is the song Cocaine by Eric Clapton (Originally JJ Cale). That song has been on air waves for a long time glorifying cocaine, one of the most addictive illegal drugs out there. Was there any backlash against that song?

Just how it should be! Yee-haw!

I'm not sure why we have to confine it to music. Who said anything about country music celebrating gangsta rap? Lol, you went in a completely different direction.

The only crime he commits in that song is throwing a beer can at shadows. Even if you want to consider him being willing to fight his ex's new boyfriend so terrible, do you realize how much that pale's in comparison to what rappers say?

Take a look at these Hitman Holla lines and tell me Redneck Crazy is more violent than them:
