Quote:USC is a bust factory for WRs over the past decade plus. Can't really say that about DL guys (Everson Griffen for 1)
Better cut Marqise Lee then.

Perhaps a program that takes 5 star players and they fall on their face at the next level? Clemson and UF are notorious. It's no secret outside the state of Florida.

What did Lee do? Get hurt half the season and drop a couple passes? Let's be fair, what did he have 33 catches?

Nobody told the Vikings or Patriots either. They spent first rounders on Gator defenders.

USC WRs put up stats and excel against other PAC defenses... There are a long list of busts after Keyshawn Johnson 2 decades ago.

So we should cut him.

We don't the packers cut Eddie Lacy? Everyone knows Alabama running backs suck.

It seems to me that this ^ statement embodies my thinking about the situation. I did not have a super high expectation for Fowler in his rookie season, so his absence, while unfortunate, isn't a 'death blow'. But what does blow my mind is the incredible string of... for lack of a better way to express it... 'bad luck' this team has had over the years! As a Jags fan, I have developed a certain 'reluctance' over the last eight years or so to allowing myself to become too optimistic about the team. The reason is because of years of incidents like the one with Fowler and Marks. Justin Blackmon was just the latest in an incredible string of bad luck with receivers.

I'm wondering what has to be done to get over this 'it never rains here, it pours' syndrome.

Actually, there's only one cure; winning. Winning heals all wrongs, lifts depressions, boost the economy, makes the flags flutter in the breeze. Winning makes the birds sing louder, all the girls are prettier, the sky bluer, and the surf better. Food taste better when we win and your car gets better gas mileage. Yes winning heals all, but here's the thing... you gotta' win first. And that, ladies and germs, is exactly what we have not been doing much of around here in the last eight years or so. I'm waiting to see it turn around. and waiting, and waiting.

I like what this article has to say on the matter. Smile

Luckily Fowler is so young. This season rests on the offense. The defense will be fine I think but Blake, the WRs, the OL and Yeldon need to produce

Exactly. It's not gonna matter what fowler could have done if the offense isnt scoring in the 20s consistently.

Nothing wrong with taking a shot on where we took Lee. Never said we should cut Lee. I love how some people go over board to 1 fair statement. (Not really)

Bama RBs don't really suck. Who busted Richardson? That's 1. Ingram and Lacy did pretty well bro.

But we can only dream
This was well worth the price of admission.

A plethora
Khalil Mack was one of the most productive Rookie LBs in recent memory, and the rams had a rookie DT Donald who also made the pro bowl. They both still picked in the top 10...... just saying one player isn't changing much on defense. we were 6th in sacks last season. Its the offense who has to step up there games. If Blake is better we are better.

There is some pure brilliance in this thread.

But I haven't said anything yet.
I love how just because he's from UF and we've drafted several first round UF busts (Harvey, Nelson) that he was going to bust anyway.  There's so much logic lacking in statements like that it's not even funny.  Literally the only thing that Fowler has in common with Harvey and Nelson is that he went to the same school.  They played under different coaches 7+ years apart.

You're expecting logic from those who are using this as their premise for him being a bust before he's played a down in the league?  Really?

They don't need no stinking logic.

Sorry, just saw this.

A 2nd round pick is a high pick for a WR that's destiny is already written in stone (so you say).

Your statement isn't fair. It's dumb. You can't tell a player's future from the people that came before him.

BTW Mark Ingram only has 370 rushing yards more than Richardson, with 3 more TDs with ONE more year in the NFL.

Yea, "pretty well" bro. Definitely worth a 1st round pick.
