I just want someone to tell me what his answer was if he indeed is good enough to be an early second round pick for the purpose of playing free safety.
Quote:Doesn't Rowe wanna play CB?

Does it matter?  If a CB is the best FS available, he fits your scheme, and you think he's the guy - you take him.

IMO... if Mathis weren't our best CB at the time, he'd have had an even better career here (possibly longer, too) if he stayed at FS.

You're hired to play where your coach tells you to play.

Yes, coach.

If you call 1-800-JAGUARS and ask for Caldwell he can confirm this for you.
Ajayi

lol
I'd like Duke Johnson. I think hes the best RB in the draft.

Tevin Coleman is my wish pick. But with RB being deeper than WR, I will say Devin Smith.

I said Rowe, but I'm starting to get on the Tevin Coleman bandwagon a little.  I watched some more of his highlights and read up on him a little more.

He is a one-cut, go for broke type guy, but catches the ball well and is tough around the goal line.  He also good in pass protection.  On top of all that, he is a kick-off return guy, which we really need.  Seems like a good fit.  #36 might be a lttle high, but if we don't take him I'd hate to see him go to Dallas or Arizona a little later and tear it up.

The thing is, this Safety class is not good at all.  The talent won't be there after round 2 probably.  Whereas the RB class will probably have talent through round 4 almost.  I guess it depends on how bad Caldwell wants a rangy FS, and if he thinks Rowe can be that guy and a long-term starter.  If not, go for Coleman and be content with the Safeties on the roster.

I was on board with Ajayi for a while, but his stock has dropped right?  I thought I heard Lageman say Ajayi has some sort of permanent knee condition.  Something to do with his cartilidge that will shorten his career.  He might drop to the 3rd and be there for us at #67.

I could see us go DGB as well. He would be a steal that late in the draft.

Abdullah.
Quote:I am saying he was a middle third of the 1st round candidate, yes. I also don't care what other draftniks said, they are wrong all the time and so are NFL teams (and so are all of us). I listen to them, and they factor in to my opinion some for sure, but at least 80% of my grades are my own sole opinion from my own evaluations.
there is a few players I wanted over Fowler but he is a top 5 player in the draft

With the Blackmon saga, you really think Caldwell would touch a guy like that with his issues?  I'm pretty sure they were partially drug-related.

This^. I don't think they will touch anyone with possible issues before round 4 or 5. The values of those picks on a young team in a rebuild could have lasting effects. Even though we have revamped our roster in a very good way so far. It's not like we're the Patriots or Seahawks that could take a chance on someone like this and they end up busting. We spend a 2nd on him and he busts, we just lost out pretty big. If he falls to the 4th or 5th (which will not happen), then heck yea. But we still have holes to fill with dependable players instead of taking a chance just yet.

GO JAGS!!
Quote:They'll go WR, probably Jaelen Strong or Devin Smith.  Too bad Dorial Green-Beckham has the baggage.

That's pretty much the only guy I don't want, I can't stomach another Blackmon.
Tevin Coleman, please.
Quote:But did he say he is willing to play free safety if necessary? I would ask him that question if I was Gus Bradley.
I'm reminded of a quote by Jack Del Rio regarding Reggie Nelson's publicly complaining about being forced into duty as a cornerback:

"If I tell him to kick, he'll kick."

I could see Coleman going as high as 47 to the Dolphins, but since they already have Lamar Miller in the fold (who's a very similar type of player), I think they'd lean more towards taking a bigger back in the third round than adding a very similar player with their second-round pick. I also suspect Arizona is going to want a bigger back, and might look at Ajayi.

The thing that throws a monkey wrench in for me is that San Francisco jumped up two spots to get ahead of the Texans for Melvin Gordon. Did they think the Texans were going to trade down and let someone else take Gordon, or did they think that the Texans were going to take him? If the Texans were looking at a running back in round one, Coleman in two would not be a huge stretch. The Cowboys make too much sense for Coleman. If I were to place my bets as to where the Jaguars would absolutely need to be to get Coleman, it'd be 59. If they wanted to make sure they get him, and the price of admission isn't too high, jumping all the way up to 50 to be on the safe side might make sense, but you don't want to give up a huge chunk of your third day on a team that needs as much depth as the Jags do to get there.

From what I hear the Chargers had like 15 guys rated as 1st rounders and 14 came off the board so they felt the need to get their guy.
