My choice would be Randy Gregory.

If this guy is available he would be worth taking a risk on. I know we have drafted Fowler in the first round, but adding Gregory would give us another pass rushing prospect. Imagine having two players that not to long ago were being talked about as top five selections. I remember Gregory being mocked to us in February, and without his drugs test, he would be long gone off the board. So if he's there at #36 we shouldn't hesitate in picking him, because bringing Fowler and Gregory into this defense will give us an immensely talented pair of pass rushers for the foreseeable future, and in this division, we need them!
Quote:From what I hear the Chargers had like 15 guys rated as 1st rounders and 14 came off the board so they felt the need to get their guy.
That was initially my thinking too, given how many times I'd read that there were somewhere between 12 and 16 actual first-round prospects in this draft, but Mayock speculated more than once that Houston might have been intending to take Gordon at 16.
Rowe, plz.

Gregory and Fowler outside, with SenDerrick and Ryan Davis coming from the middle on third down sounds pretty darn solid. Do we still have Big Red? Him and Odrick with Roy and Marks in the middle will be hard as hell to run on.

I love our D. Gregory would be a gnarly addition, but we need to boost the offense more. If we did go D, I would also prefer Eric Rowe. Solving the FS position ASAP is paramount.

I think it'll be Telvin Coleman.
Just to be contrary, I'm going in a different direction. Denzel Perryman is one of my favorite players in the draft and won't be there in the 3rd. Perryman, T. Smith and Fowler would be a great trio for years to come. He may not start in game 1, but can learn from Poz. and be a great replacement in a few years. Imagine Cyprien, Fowler, and Perryman on the field at the same time. No team would have a harder hitting defense.

I also believe the Jags can get as good a slot receiver in the 3rd as in the 2nd round. Lockett or Greene should be available and then they can take a running back in the 4th who falls such as Cobb, David Johnson or Langford. Free safety would have to wait til the 5th round. Hopefully Caldwell has his eye on some small college player at that position or who can be converted from cornerback. They can be groomed for a year and replace Brown if he is a disappointment this season.

At this point we still dont have a true speed rush. Despite the huge red flags, Gregory is still the best value. WR and RB can wait IMO. Not very enamored with the DB crop at this stage.

If gregory is completely off our draft board, I'd like to see Jake Fisher in a Jags uniform.

I also wouldn't mind trading this pick for a future 1st or an established vet like Wilkerson.

I am starting to think (maybe just wishful thinking) it could be FS or DL. Dave mentioned how highly they looked at the depth of the position (and even next years class) when he picked both Bortles and Fowler.

So far Dave has said RB and WR are very deep (obviously we know that). FS and DL are not deep at all.

It would be sweet if Dave went dark horse and took Michael Bennett or Henry Anderson to rotate at 3T/5T. I have both of them graded very closely to Leonard Williams (with Anderson a little higher upside even).

The Jets are asking for multiple first round picks for Wilkerson so you can scratch him off the list. I wouldn't mind Tashaun Gipson though.

Fowler ran a 4.60 40 with a 10-yard split of 1.59 at 261 lbs. Gregory ran a 4.64/1.61 at 235. I know that track speed isn't the best indicator of success at DE, but it's hard to ignore the size difference when the better numbers on Fowler's side come into play.

The more I think about it, the more ok I'd be with Eddie Goldman.
