Quote:Right, but my point is we are talking about crab legs! Doesn't everyone have more important things to do? I mean seriously NCAA, is this what we are really trying to stop? What I'm saying is it is crazy this is a story and it is also crazy that a school could lose scholarships ovee this. Priorities are really out of whack.

Obviously it was important enough for a potential team that they asked about it. Just because it's no big thing for you doesn't mean the rest of the world has their priorities out of whack.
Quote:To be fair I think Harbaugh baited him into spilling the beans. The guy knew what he was doing and knew the cameras were rolling.

Maybe JH did bait him into saying something about the "crab legs incident" knowing the cameras were rolling and trying to get JW to say something else about it.

What do you think his hometown teams reporters/media people are going try to do when they get JW in front of their microphones/TV cameras?

It won't be hard for some of those experienced media people to get JW to say something that I'm sure his advisers will wish he hadn't said, especially with the way JW says things without really thinking about what he is saying and the consequences of what he might say.
Quote:The idea that Jameis Winston was going to bed hungry because he didnt have any money and the school wasnt feeding him enough is [BLEEP] laughable. He didnt need someone to hook him up with crab legs.

All it takes is one look at Winston to see he was never going hungry.

It WAS just crab legs at first, but it has now become crab legs and a cake.

If JW keeps on talking, who knows what else it could become in addition to crab legs and a cake.

If this was the only incident in his past, it might not get brought up so much, but this is only one of many incidents involving JW and his "youthful exuberance".

There's a trend here and we have no idea if that trend is ending, now that he is going into the NFL, or if he is going to continue with his trend of questionable behavior and lying about it, only to come out later with a different version of what REALLY happened.

I get why NFL teams would dig further, but this story is way bigger then it should be IMO. I mean let's think about what we are talking about. The story is whether or not he lied about taking $20-$30 worth of crab legs. I guess that's the offseason for ya. It's almost comical to see.

Hey, if we dig deep enough we may find out that not only did he take crab legs and steal soda from a fountain drink, but he may have swiped some m&ms from a convenient store. Who knows, he may have speeded on his way to the combine as well!!! Lol, I think the above is funny because you are actually serious.
Quote:Ok, so apparently there are a lot of people dumb enough to believe his story.

So youre just going to ignore the report that the NFL teams who investigated his story after Jaemis told them privately, said it checked out with the people they talked to? Just keep on living in your own made up world.

Again. Common sense... Apply it
Quote:These things happen all the time and if you dont think so youre really clueless. These college athletes are broke. If they meet someone who is willingly going to give them free stuff you really think they would say no?

Would you have said no back in your college days? If your mommy and daddy were giving you money please dont respond because you havent been in that situation.

As for why he didnt give this story initially. This happened during the season, or before i cant really remember. He cant come out and say he was excepting free things. He could have been suspended for the whole year over being gifted a birthday cake. His only choice was to lie because the joke of the NCAA probably would have ended his season.
This is exactly what I was thinking

When it first happen, I knew it was a hook up, of course he wasnt gonna say that back then, now that he is out of college and being asked by NFL teams there is no reason to lie to them because they will find out the truth. NFL teams dont give a crap if you took money or gifts, they care about if you are a risk at getting arrested or shot.
The kid is an idiot. He is trying to play the victim. Ironically this may end up well for FSU football in that recruits may believe that if you attend this school you will receive free shoes and seafood. Lol.

I think it's funny that you're actually too dumb to understand why it's an issue.

I also am pretty sure you're an FSU fan, maybe I'm wrong and you're just a jameis fan, but this dude is throwing your entire university and program under the bus and you're just like hey...no big deal guys.

Big john was this guys biggest supporter and as you can see in this thread even he agrees that jameis is a total Morin and is bringing negative attention to fsu that wasn't in any way necessary.

To the people that say would I say no if someone hooked me up, no I wouldn't say no, but there is no possibility for me to be kicked out of school, have wins vacated from my team, have scholarships taken away etc...

Its one thing to dislike the fact that it is an NCAA violation and is subject to those kind of penalties but it's another thing to be ignorant and not understand that just because you don't think its a big deal, IT IS a big deal.

And the last point is it was over and done with. Jameis and FSU got away with everything. He was/is probably going to be the #1 pick either way. He dug those skeletons up for what?

I'm curious how an nfl team has the ability to uncover the truth better than Publix?

An "investigation" by an nfl team would consist of them asking Jameis questions. They aren't the FBI.

Publix has cameras everywhere. They have an inventory system. They would have found out about the give away and fired the employee. That's not what happened.

It doesn't take much detective skills to realize this hook up story is bogus. One employee does not work in both seafood and bakery. This story is bull crap.

He does have a reason to lie. He is trying to make himself look better.

So the NFL teams are lying too about what they found out after investigating? Why? Teams have had under cover scouts follow prospects on planes to see how they behave... but you think they cant walk into a Publix and ask the employees, not the corporation, what actually happened.

Actually NFL teams do have a reason to lie.  Imagine if they found out some really crazy stuff about Jameis.  Why would the Bucs reveal that to the public before selecting him 1st overall?  They'd get ripped to shreds.  NFL teams have to walk a fine line between winning at all costs and not employing criminals.  And public sentiment determines where that line is.

They're much better off saying they've done a ton of investigative work, they found nothing, and that Jameis is a great person.  And if he screws up again, it wouldnt be the Bucs fault.  Because they would have done their homework.

The fact that you think NFL teams did a thorough investigation into this is enough...

Have you paid your brain bill lately?
If you watch the draft academy episode, harbaugh asked him about any run ins with police, Jameis tells the bb gun story and conveniently leaves out the crab leg incident. Jedd Fisch had to bring it up and then Jameis spills the bull crap.
Even if the guy really did "hook him up" you know he still knew it was stealing....because otherwise why do probation and get suspended from the baseball team for something he didn't think was wrong? Trying to protect his buddy? You don't do probation, however short, for a buddy only to rat him out a few months later.

One guy does not work in seafood and bakery. It's not a true story.

However, if it is true... He lied to police, which is just as bad.
