the most pirated show on the internet is back for season 5.
I've been hooked on this show for the last 2 years and i'm pumped its finally back in season. it makes for a nice trade off of sunday routines from walking dead to game of thrones during the football offseason.
its unfortunate that the first four episodes released early but im going to stick to it and watch them as they come out so it would be cool if anyone who has downloaded them to maybe keep that in mind and NOT give out too many spoilers.
Seems like heads are gonna roll again this season. Cerci has her panties all in a wad. Little finger and Sansa Starke seem to have something up their sleeve. The dragon lady is actually facing a bit of apprehension from her freed people. Somehow, the director has managed to make me like Jamie fricken Lanister, which i never thought i would say. Jon Snow has some tough choices to make. Tyrian is staying drunk as ever. The white walkers are still a mystery. And the two youngest Starkes seem to be continuing adventures of their own. Its shaping into another awesome season.
Jaime Lannister is one of the most compelling characters in that entire series. He's a bit of an arrogant horse's rear, but you start to see some deep steel in the man as the story unfolds. Cersei is just there for the viewer to hate and to watch the Train Wreck happen, in my opinion.
One sad bit though is the fact that Tywin is no longer in the story. His murder by Tyrion was a monumental moment, but his absence is going to be felt in a lot of ways.
I will say this though; where the story is right now was when I really started running out of patience for the books. The story just seemed like it was petering out and there wasn't a whole lot of thought put into it other than to just keep it going. But, I am cautiously optimistic that the show will keep me involved.

interesting take and i sgree on most parts.... tywin was one of those power figures that will surely leave a void... i thought the same of ned starke after the first season but they managed to have the tywins and robert baratheons of the world, fill into the rolls effectively... the show does have some actors and actresses that have questionable talent(the hound and brenee of whatever are just plain bad actors who have or had too big of rolls imo) but they balance that out with phenomenal acting imo from people like tywin, tyrion, little finger and so on.
it is also worth noting the rumors about the director claiming he is going to begin steering far away from the books in this season and forward.
It took me a while to realize this (and I've written it in other GoT threads on this site) but Ned and Joffrey had to go away. They just didn't fit into the style. Ned was too good of a guy and Joffrey was too bad. The rank and file characters all do a little of both, and those two did not.
I broke down and got the first season of Thrones.. Been holding off on it.. Finally decided to sit down and give it a try, couldn't get through the first episode. Thought it was kinda boring and not my kinda show. Different strokes I guess..
I won't lie I saw the first 4 episodes last week, though I kind of wished I didn't, no shows to look forward to on Sunday.
I love the show, sometimes I get confused who is who I can't imagine keeping it straight while reading a book. I'll echo what others have said I'm enjoying the Jamie Lanister Arc I started out hating the guy and now I'm kind of sympathetic towards him. His lover/sister however I can't wait until she's dead.
It was hard to get into at first because it just felt like a barrage of names and titles and so on. As you get into the show, you start figuring out the connections and whatnot and once you get past figuring out who everyone is, it is a great show. Almost as good as TWD.

haha i hope cerci gets a joeffrey death... like was said previously, she is there to hated... but you have to appreciate the level of acting that it takes to make the audience universally hate someone so much.

lol my line of thought was if it was the whole season leaked, i would have done it cause at least i would have most questions wrapped up when i finished... but since it was only the first 4, i figured it would leave me frustrated and having to wait 4 weeks before i could get any sort of continuation... hang in there, only got 2 weeks to go.

i actualy bought the show on blue ray from best buy for the first 4 season... super expensive and kind of a waste of money but i always like adding my favorite shows and movie to my collection in hard copy.. but when u buy them blue ray, they have in show menu that does alot of explaining about houses and who is who and i actually started using it alot around the third season... the maps are the coolest part imo, they give more of a reference to where people are and where they are going.

Netflix spoiled me, watching shows weekly sucks :\

at first it can seemed like the director is just trying to build emotional attachments to people just so he can ruin them for shock and aw factor... but later i started realizing that it adds a level of reality to the show that gives every person a level of mortality making people realize any character can die at any minute... i think too many shows have that immortal aspect to some characters where you know what ever situation they are in, they are going to make it out alive and be there in the next episode, GoT isnt like that at all.

couldnt agree more LOL.
I watched the first four seasons and then decided to read the books. I was wrapping up A Dance with Dragons (the last published book so far) just this past week. It's an odd change going from someone who didn't know the books to someone who read them rapid fire over the past few months and now watching the show again. In the first two episodes so far, as I watch I find a part of my brain comparing the differences between the show and the book.

Yeah, I had a hard time following the storyline the first time I watched the show but after some binge watching I seem up to speed on everyone's backstory.
I travel a lot, so my ex-wife got me the first book on audio. I then purchased the rest of them on audio, so I have the whole collection.
Gotta admit, I've had to pull up the interactive map on the web just so I can see where the various places are. Other than that shortcoming, the audiobooks are great for long road trips. They can be a bit hard to follow, what with dozens of story lines going at the same time. Like Deacon noted, at times the author just seems to be going through the motions, but I guess that's what happens when you write a few 700-page books.
I'm interested to see where Martin takes the TV series, but I don't know if I'll even get the next book. Turns out he killed one character too many for my tastes.
Sigh... but I guess I gotta find out what happens to Arya and Tyrion.

I just started this week.
I feel like I need to keep a notebook to keep it all straight.
I'm sold. I just find myself having to re-watch some episodes before I really absorb them.
Cersei Lannister is the one I most want to watch endure a slow, painful, humiliating death.
Ramsay Bolton, too.
Great books, great series.

I'm a big fan of the actor playing him (Iwan Rheon) so I'm torn...but he excels in playing creepers. Those eyes...

He definitely has the creepy factor going for him. Same for the actor portraying Theon Greyjoy, in a different way.
