Quote:Can someone explain the love for Gregory?
He's tall and has long arms. I get that but is that it? He does OK when he's actually using his arm length, but he doesn't even take advantage of it that often. He's so light that a punch from even linemen of average strength usually throw him back. He doesn't have a wide range of moves, either.
Maybe I'm missing something but I wouldn't have picked him up before the 2nd even before the failed tests.
I think its interesting how everybody sees things differently. I feel like Gregory uses his hands well and is stronger than he looks. He does a decent job of disengaging and of course his length and athleticism are good. He also looks like he can bend pretty well but his weight may be an issue if he's to light.
How you don't get all the love for Gregory I feel that same way about Beasley. I feel like I'm missing something I haven't seen
It's most likely gonna come down to Fowler, Williams and Beasley.
If Williams is there (which is looking more and more likely) Jags have to nab him.

I think he's stronger than he looks too, but 235-240 pounds is easy for a OL to move and it looks like that happens a lot with him. When he's using his hands, he will often beat his man. It seems, however, that he will fight it out with pad-on-pad contact too often. With OL that are almost 100 lbs larger, it doesn't seem like a smart move.
I'm a lot bigger on Beasley since he's got a huge variety of moves to compensate for his size.
Quote:How long does marijuana stay in your system? He said he last used in December. Could it really linger 2 months? Why didn't he do anything to flush it out, given that he's already told coaches he was using?
He used to cope with injuries, apparently. What happens if he gets hurt again in the NFL? Will he resort back to it? This takes him off at #3. He's already got a 1 strike heading into the draft. Someone will take a shot in the mid 1st though. I think Dave would be open to taking a chance at Gregory, but not at #3.
Lol he really said that?
It takes 40 days AT MOST for us normal people. If an athlete with such low bodyfat and high amount of exercise smoked in December, it would probably be out of his system in 2 weeks.
Why do they even test for pot, it's not like it's a performance enhancer and in the next 10 years will probably legal in the majority of the US.

Because its not legal right now? Same reason the majority of corporate jobs drug test? The blame shouldn't be on the NFL, it should be on the dumb [BLEEP] who can't stop smoking knowing damn well the combine drug test, and the annual drug test for that matter thanks to the NFLPA, is upcoming.
Sure he said he stopped smoking in December (yeah right) but everyone who smokes knows you can easily clear your system in 30 days...especially a professional athlete who's constantly working out and constantly hydrating.

They're basically turning down millions and millions of dollars to smoke weed.
Play for ten years. Get rich. Then smoke as much weed as you want!
I still want him 2 b a jag!

It's not like they're the only company that tests for it. It's still considered a Schedule 1 drug by the DEA. While I think that's ignorant, companies are still going to test for it as long as it's illegal. The fact is here these guys know they are going to be tested and do it anyway, which is beyond stupid.
I think if we cant find a trade partner for Mariotta, we might as well sit at 3. I know LEO is the main position people are talking about, and i think we will upgrade it in the draft. But i really just have this feeling in me that passing up Amari Cooper would be a mistake. I think after Leonard Williams, he the next best player. I think even with our young WR corp, it still can be upgraded and you cant count on all 3 of our WR to hit (hurns, lee, robinson). I think with Caldwells comments of wanting to make this offseason about improving blake through FA and draft can be a hint they may take a playmaker and the jags are even scheduling a private workout with Cooper. I was a big Blackmon fan, but slowly I'm coming to terms he won't ever be back. I think we just need to get the best players we can find, and i think this kid Cooper can really be special. Imagine a WR corp of Cooper, Robinson, Lee and Hurns. With Lewis and Thomas as the TE along with a RB we draft in the draft with Denard Robinson as the scat back, 3rd down pass catching RB.
Fowler is intriguing, but is he a bit over valued at the moment? How much different is Fowler from Gregory, Beasley, Ray ect? I don't think I'm opposed to a LEO at 3 or the first, but i really think Williams and Cooper are the two best players in this draft. I guess its my opinion but id seriously consider taking Cooper at 3.

I feel like good WRs come around more often then good pass rushers, which we have a chance to get the top pass rusher in the draft so you dont pass on that.
As far as the last part, Fowler is different because he is bigger then all of those guys and can do the same things, rush the passer and drop in coverage, also can play multiple positions, while they will be pure edge rushers. Fowler I believe could line up at every LB position and every position on the DL, those others cant do that.
