Draft Insider Tony Pauline reports the Titans and Jaguars have "lots of interest" in Missouri OLB Shane Ray.

Tennessee and Jacksonville hold the Nos. 2 and 3 overall picks in the draft, respectively. Ray's "buzz" hasn't been as high the past week because he didn't participate at the Combine due to a foot injury. But most view him as a locked-in top-10 overall pick who may not get past the Falcons at No. 8. We've seen him projected as high as No. 3 to the Jaguars. Both the Titans and Jaguars could use some youth and/or pass-rush juice off the edge. Ray stands in at 6'3/245.

He's absolutely explosive on tape and in the weight room. The problem is that he doesn't have fantastic size, and he isn't proficient enough in coverage to be a good OTTO. That puts him firmly in tweener territory. If we took him he'd be a LEO most likely, and I love how he plays with his hair on fire. Out of the big four (Gregory, Fowler, Ray, and Beasley) I think he is the 'base hit' so to speak. It will be interesting to see how his pro day impacts his stock, but for now I like him less than the other three.

would be a TERRIBLE pick

it's Fowler, Williams, or trade down

Even though I agree, I don't agree. My preferred outcome is Fowler, Williams or trading down as you said, but I can't agree that Ray is a TERRIBLE pick. He may not be on most radars, but Caldwell and Bradley have shown a decent ability on evaluating talent. If they think Ray is worth the #3 pick, then he probably is.

I think both teams are just doing their homework, looking for a logical player to pick within the top 10 if another team trades up for Mariota.

If they want the best edge pass rusher which is pretty much what the LEO is, then I think Ray is the pick. Fowler is more well rounded, better against the run and better in coverage.

Agree.

I really want Williams first, then a trade down to 6 and if neither of those happen, I'll take Fowler.

yea I dont think Ray could play standing up, he would be pure pass rusher, of course they are gonna be interested in one of the top prospects
wow, of course we have interest in almost every player.

how is that news?

It's really not, but now up until the draft we are going to here vague things like this and some weird and untrue rumors.
I think this is just to get Atlanta's attention to possibly make them trade up with us to grab him.

I can see the Jags showing interest as in(trading down with somebody) and then drafting Shane Ray. I do not believe that he is worth the 3rd overall pick. He is a very explosive player, but he lacks size. I can see Shane dropping into the late/early teens. Maybe being drafted by somebody like the saints.

I'm sure there's a handful of guys they have "strong interest" in at three.

Why can't we do both? There is a good chance Fowler will be available at #6.

Why do you think that? Teams don't trade by saying, "Hey, you want this guy? You'll miss out on him if you don't move up."

Quote:His shoulder worries me......has nerve damage there

Is that permanent and afecting his ability to sack quarterbacks? If it is just temporary like the toe injury, he will be okay.
When I watched the florida game he hurt his shoulder and they said nerve damage but idk if that's true because I couldn't find anything about it anywhere else
Ray isn't bad, per se, he's just not as good as Fowler, Beasley, or Dupree.

So he must be fine now. The only ijury that prevented him from working out at the combine is in his foot.
