Everybody has heard the possibility of the jags trading the #3 pick to a qb hungry team for a kings ransom but here is a different trade back possibility. The jags trade back to number 8 with the Falcons. The Falcons need a pass rusher maybe worse than anybody in the nfl and if they stay at 8 then they will certainly miss out again.
The top 3 pass rushers (Williams, Ray, Gregory maybe Fowler Jr.) are all projected to go earlier than the Falcons. I can absolutely see dmitroff calling up his old buddy, Caldwell and trying to nab one of these elite pass rushers before the raiders, skins and bears do.
Another reason I feel this is possible is because Dmitroff is on the hot seat and he knows it. We also know he's not afraid of trading up. They also just hired a def minded coach in Quinn.
I like this scenario a lot better than trading back to the 15-20 area of the first round. Who knows might happen. Might just be wishful thinking too.
Dante Fowler is not expected to be a top seven pick. Projections are 10-15, so the Falcons actually could be reaching if they pick him. Of course that could change after the combine and Florida's Pro Day but he won't be a top five pick unless something crazy happens to all of the other guys you mentioned. Do the math and tell me why we should expect four of the top seven players to be defensive linemen.
It also should be noted Fowler splits time between DE and OLB, so if he is good enough to be the third pick, we should stay put and draft him to be our Leo.
I hate it when people start threads about one trade back idea instead of post replies to a big one about all trade options.

Fowler has been mocked to us more than once from what I've seen. See daniel jeremiahs mock. His stock will rise even more after the combine as well.

If Daniel Jeremiah's first mock is accurate there is no reason to trade the picik to a team that has no pass rush. Wouldn't you love to get a guy who can play both lineman and linebacker? I would rather have that than a pure lineman who never played outside linebacker because a versitile player like Dante Fowler could be our Leo. I would not trade down five spots for the risk of missing out on him.
If offered the chance to trade down to eight and the Falcons threw a 2016 first-round pick (or 2015 second and third-round picks) on the table, yeah, I'd do it.

Same here.
It's a nice scenario, but I think it's unlikely. Someone might trade up for a QB, because there are only two worth having this year. But there is enough depth in the other positions to make a tease unlikely.

I doubt they would consider giving up 2016 first round pick. If this happens I'd expect something along the line of what we gave up for gabbert, second and a fourth maybe a fifth. Which I would still take.

All it takes is one team to fall in love with a player. Look back to last years rookie wr crop, one of the best of all time. The bills still traded up to get Watkins even though they knew they could have take OBJ.

But for moving up only five spots, I don't think they would give us a 2016 first round pick. They would just offer a couple later round 2015 picks.

Odell Beckham makes the Bills look stupid. How in the world did they not know he is a better receiver than Sammy Watkins after all those one-handed catches at LSU? But at the time everybody said Watkins is the best wide receiver in the draft followed by Mike Evans, so I thought the decision to trade up was smart until Beckham made the play of the year.

For the same reason Brady went in the 6th round, Alex Smith was taken 20+ spots ahead of Aaron Rodgers and Tony Romo went undrafted... YOU NEVER KNOW.

Yes make more blanket statement.
So will Jameis Winston's baggage create a situation where no team wants to trade up and take him?
Could he fall to the Jets by default because no team wishes to mortgage their future and make a trade up on a less than firm personality?
Given what happened with Johnny Manziel, Winston could be the one QB that falls and then ends up being a Pro-Bowl Player once he gets his life in order.
More and more it looks like it is possible that Tennessee does not take a QB and the Jags get the other DE in this draft class.

I don't think so. I think Winston has more talent and ability to be an NFL QB than Manziel had. I think a team wanting a potential franchise QB will trade up for him if available at 2-4.
The noise about Winston is just starting to gear up.
No doubt Winston is more ready to be an NFL QB with his game, but his actions off the field at Free Shoes University (FSU) suggests that he is anything but ready to be a leader of an NFL Franchise.
I like Winston, but the off the field stuff is concerning and given what has happened with Johnny Football, Winston is a Buyer Beware product that may cause him to fall and no team willing to step up and pay the freight for the opportunity to draft him.
I am just saying, that is what the Talking Heads are saying on the internet.
So, the Jags can't be counting chickens.
