A few NFL facts on skip.

Skipper, 47, has spent his entire eight-year NFL career with the Raiders, coaching the team's tight ends from 2007-2008. The Raiders ranked 21st (106.3 yards per game, 2009), second (155.9, 2010), seventh (131.9, 2011), 28th (88.8, 2012), 12th (125.0, 2013) and 32nd (77.5, 2014) in the NFL in rushing during his six seasons as running backs coach.
Looks like the years when the Raiders RB were healthy they were ranked very well. When not healthy not to well, last year being the worst cause MJD and McFadden were terrible.

It's an upgrade in my opinion, but guess we will see.
So every year except 2012 and 2014, the Raiders averaged over 100 yards per game. What went wrong those two seasons?

We can only hope it is an upgrade at this point. Both MJD and McFadden were benched in favor of a rookie from UCF whose name I can't remember.

FIXED
Im just here so I wont get fined.

RB coach? Cool...

More worried about the Oline and QB. If those two are fixed, doesn't really matter who the RB and RB coach are.

Good move as long as he brings Gilligan with him...
Quote:Don't get mad at me. I'm not the one hiring these guys.

I guess someone agrees....

Quote:While Skipper and new Jaguars coordinator Greg Olson presided over the league’s worst offense last year, their presence could still help the Jaguars, who were 31st.

Skipper’s actually a good coach, despite spending the last eight years with the Raiders. He’s also worked as an offensive coordinator at UCLA.

Looks like the author is trying to clean up his backhanded comment.
I hope no one is considered safe on the O-line, every position needs an upgrade. If Linder and Bowanko progress, they could be keepers but I haven't seen anything out of the others. Last year, Cam Bradfield played LT better than Joekel.

His track record isnt nearly as bad as I thought it would be, this could be an upgrade. The thing is do we really have the talent for him to work with? I do believe so and hope so but this position is all about the talent IMO.

Linder was great last year.

Luke Joeckel was the 2nd overall pick just two years ago, in case you've been living under rock, most young tackles struggle immensely when they enter the league. Zane Beadles was solid at LG, the only two positions I see the Jaguars upgrading is RT (they'll definitely upgrade this position in FA) and C, Bowakno was solid (for a 6th round rookie) but that position can certainly be upgraded.

Justin Forsett did not exactly excel under our previous staff yet when he leaves here he is one of the best in the league in Baltimore.  So I don't think the new guys can be too much worse.

Time will tell but I'm going to be optimistic about this hire. Best of luck to him and the rest of the staff in the upcoming season.

Justin Forsett was hurt the majority of the time he was here and never excelled on any team prior to this year.

He did pretty good in Houston.

He was hurt nearly the entire time he was here.

Yup.  He was never able to stay healthy long enough to show what he could do here, so his time was brief with the Jags.

It'll be interesting to see what Gerhart and DRob can do with a new offense.  I'm expecting the team to bring in some competition at the spot, and if Olson's comments have any bearing, the running game is going to get a lot more focus this season to take the pressure off of Bortles.
