I highly doubt it.

Feel free to save my quote in the meantime.

Quote:Really skeptical of this one.

He's done some good and he's done some bad.

Most recently he did have the only offense worse than ours. That's the thing that bothers me most.

Yeah, I saw that too.  Our Points per game and the raider's points per game were both 15...  Not very good.  But...  You have to consider the issues the raiders and the jaguars both had..  Rookie QB, bad running game, and bad O-line production.  So you have to look at other things, in my opinion.

1st.  What other OCs were out there?  Tresman?  Sure.  But who else besides him?  Cutter?  No thanks.  Shannahan's kid?  Pass?  Gase?  meh...  There are concerns there...

Where as Olson has done some positive things when circumstances were right.  This could very well be a circumstance where Olson will shine.

Who knows...  But your concern is absolutely not unfounded.  I pulled up the Raider's offensive stats too, and it was pretty darn uhhhhhhhhhhhhhglee.

LOL!

I don't Like the hire.

Well, that's fair.  I for one won't attack any poster for having a negative reaction to this hire.  I personally don't hate the hire.  I'm hopefull of the hire based on my own logical reasoning.

Mainly that Carr performed really well for the 2 quarters I watched the Raiders play all season...  I'm not ready to start calling for Olson's head untill we at least get some games to evaluate.

Quote:We fired fisch for this?

Yes.  And is was the right move.  Fish was bad, really really bad.  Olson has a track record that is worth considering.  Fish, among being reportedly a total jerk-store to BB5 was completely inept.  Sorry, he was.  With Olson, we have some hope.  With Fish, we were dead in the water, so to speak.

On top of that, besides Tresman, name another potential OC candidate that has worked with 3 or more QBs and had success with at least 2 of them???

I'll wait...  Seriously, I'll wait...  I'm not sure if there are any, but if there are, I'd like to know.  :-)
The only upside to this is that he was Gabberts QB coach in 2012 which was Gabberts best year.. that's not saying much tho.

Regarding your final point, the only guy I can think of off the top of my head was Dennison. But as most of us correctly speculated as soon as Kubiak was linked the the Broncos job he was off the table.

I think you're forgetting exactly how bad Gabbert was. The fact that he made him look like a serviceable QB who was potentially turning the corner should be considered a crowing achievement.

Lol trust me, i wont ever forget how bad that pile of trash was.

You are a sheep.
I will say this: Cleveland just hired Oakland's QB coach as OC. Looks like some people like what happened in Oakland (although the Browns might not be the ones to emulate).

Well, then...  It could be argued, that based on experience and track record...  Olson was 1 of 3 top candidates for OC this offseason.  I for one will hang my hat on that untill I start watching some regular season games.

But I will sleep easy knowing that we obviously upgraded our offensive coaching staff this offseason.  I mentioned this in another thread---  The Dynamic between Marrone and Olson may very well be something that is very harmonious and advantageous to our offense.  We're getting 2 very experienced coaches to build our young offense.

We may as well hope for the best.  One can always re-evaluate after games are played.  But why freak out now?  It's not the time...  That's what the regular season is for!  #becausejaguars

I can't judge him yet.. but i'm not "thrilled" about it.

"It's all Olson's fault!"

Oh wait,, I'm supposed to save that post for next November.

The Factory of Sadness is opening a new plant in Jacksonville. At least the Jags didn't trade back into the 1st round to take a failure of a QB at pick #22 THREE TIMES!

As far as Olson is concerned, I see it as another typical Jags mediocre coaching hire. Same old same old. Only one proven previously successful NFL coach hired since 2007. How we ended up with Sullivan I'll never understand.

He was the OC and Blaine gabbert's mentor during a 1-15 season, plus the Raiders really stunk it up under him

Moot, we'll just be dealing with more of the same 0-4 win crap again. Someone has to be the whipping boys of the league and I guess we've cemented that again.

I heard that was the doing of Mike Mularky

Self portrait?
I just hope he can turn Bortles into a productive QB

1. Olson was Blaine's QB coach, not OC.

2. The Jaguars have never gone 1-15.

3. The Raiders have less talent than we do.
