Put me in the Trestman or bust camp. It's actually a perfect fit considering the young offense we have and Marc's impeccable track record of getting the most out of his QBs.

The fact that Bradley said we're sticking with the ZBS doesn't really bode well to me, hopefully it's just coach speak.
Did anyone see when the Bears lost to the Saints?

That wasn't OC/HC related, that was just Jay Cutler throwing the dumbest interceptions I have ever seen. He was BAD.

Admittedly I don't know much about Trestman outside of him being well known in the coaching world, what kind of offense does he run?
I wouldn't be upset with the hire, but I hope there's a good search for Fisch's replacement.  Bears fans have said that Trestman used the Bubble screen too much, and is stuck in the past.  Not sure how true that is, but I didn't follow the bears closely this year. Glad Fisch is gone, i hope whoever we hire next is the right guy.

Quote:Because Cutler is an arrogant moron. That's why Denver dumped him when he was pegged to be their franchise QB.

Josh McDaniels tried to trade Jay Cutler away and for Matt Cassel just to have his own guy. When Cassel was traded to the Chiefs, McDaniels wanted Cutler to stay. Cutler basically asked to be traded because he did not want to play for a new coach who initially wanted a different quarterback. It wasn't like the Broncos wanted to get rid of him because he is an arrogant moron.
I never said I wanted to keep Fisch. I said they would. I never really gave my opinion on him at all.

Quote:YES!!! Let's bring the king of the horizontal offense here. If you thought Fisch liked short passes, wait until you see Trestman. Wallbash

The ignorance in this post makes me sad.

The ignorance in your reply makes me sadder.

Quote:Unfortunately he becomes the fall guy regardless. It was his scheme, his game plan, his playcalling that failed. Had he been successful he would've received all of the credit, since he failed he gets the bulk of the blame.
Rightly so that he's the fall guy.  Either way, I am fine with him as just an OC here.

I enjoy watching Blake throw deep the short Chad Henne passes were frustrating especially on 3rd & long plays when the call is for a short pass....

Frustrating to watch.  I mean to be honest if its effective I wouldnt have minded as much but to be the 31st ranked offense every year doesnt translate to success.

Aka dink and dunk. I thought the majority of us wanted to bring in someone who's going to open up the field?

You said firing him would be "completely irrational" and you had another tldr about how nothing was his fault

Well...you can attack downfield in a WCO.

However, attacking downfield is a reason I thought of Martz.
Mike Martz offense would never work.  It requires deep drops and lots of time for the QB to get rid of the ball.

Nothing is wrong with improving the O-Line.

Improvement is one thing.  You'd need a top offensive line to make it work.  I saw it in action in Chicago and its not realistic.

Yeah but Chicago almost never has anything more than a pedestrian passing offense anyway.
Quote:Who was Trestmann before he even became head coach? What about his philosophy makes him stand out?

That Bears offense with Jeffrey, Marshall, and Forte sucked.
The fact he was OC for the Raiders the year Rich Gannon became league MVP makes him stand out.  He also helped Cutler produce a career best year, and coached Bernie Kosar and Steve Young, too.

It's his whole package. He's like an Andy Reid just the OC version and not the HC version. He has had his hand in the development of a lot of qbs and got ones who were not that great to play well above their ability. If we are breaking the continuity then he is exactly the type of guy I would want them to do it for. He seems to have an understanding of how to work to a guy's strengths and improve his weakness. No matter the age of the player.
If Trestman is so good, why did he linger in a Canadian Football league so long?

The Bears offense was loaded with talent the past year and struggled to score points.  Plus, the guy is a giant weirdo.  Have you ever heard one of his press conferences?
