Gus may not want someone here who might actually be as good or even better coach than he is... kind'a the old situation that if you're only average looking but want to look good you surround yourself with homely people; comparatively, you look beautiful! Plus what if things don't improve in J'ville; does he really want a guy who could replace him already here?

I highly doubt any of this.
Found this interesting on a Bucs board:
Trestman is such a great offensive coach he just led the Bears to a season where Houston easily outpaced them, and where the Jets barely finished behind them. And that’s with their yards being hyper-inflated by garbage time, with 20% of their total yards coming from garbage time
Trestman is overrated. If he didn’t get to coach the greatest QB in CFL history he probably never gets the Bears job.
