Everyone said during the season that Allen Hurns was able to shine as an undrafted rookie due to his familiarity with the offense.

Now that Fisch is gone and the offense will change, will he have a harder time? Or is he talented enough to overcome it.
his knowledge of the offense got him on the field before the rookies, his talent kept him there. diamond in the rough. Jerry polished him to be a very good receiver and next year can only get better.

My guess is he stays. Why not?

As stated earlier, Hurns got his shot and unlike players in the past I.e. Kevin Elliot, Chastin West, Kerry Taylor, he showed talent. A new OC will/should not effect him. He has a spot to lose right now, not earn

^This.

I still think he ends up our best WR
There are only so many routes receivers can run, I think he will continue to develop.

I think he'll be okay. But even if it hurts him some, keeping a guy you think is doing a bad job hurts everyone.
Allen Hurns is a curious case. On paper, Its easy to see him being completely buried in the depth chart simply because of the difference in circumstance between last offseason and the one he will face this offseason. Not to mention if we see Blackmon come back.

However, If you look at the tape, You will see a player who maximized his opportunities and made close catches. Simply having a 100% grasp on the playbook helps but it doesn't run the route for you nor catch the ball for you.

This offseason will go a long way in showing where this guy will end up. A top 3 receiver or "just a depth guy".

Hurns would've had 1,000 yards with better protection on the QB and a display of better hands on his part. He just gets open and I believe he'll lock up the #2 receiver spot next year, with Allen Robinson playing the #1 spot and Marqise Lee alternating with both.

Allen Hurns is really good. I think he may eventually be our best receiver as well, especially if he puts in the work this offseason. He literally played well all year AND preseason. I'll also add that he's a tough dude.. I can't even count how many times he got slammed over the middle this year, but just kept catching the ball!

If he can put on about 5-10 lbs of muscle and work at his game and craft..... watch out.
I don't think Allen Hurns will be anything special.  He had a special rookie season for an undrafted guy - but he did also get the most opportunities.

I just don't see him as a natural pass-catcher.

A new OC is going to make Hurns 10X better. No more 4 yard outs on  3rd and 7.

He's a long ball catcher.

Everytime he got hurt it was on short routes and he was "sandwiched" by defenders.

He has drive, ability and desire.

He'll be fine.

The question should be why wasn't he starting the last few games of the season.  you knew that Shorts wasn't going to be back and Hurns in my opinion had the most explosive production of all the recievers.  As it stands you stack him up against all the recievers taken in the second round and he belongs.  And Early on in the bright lights of the regular season he dropped 2 or three fifty yard TD's.  he led the NFL in the preseason and then carried over production down the field in the regular season.

A new OC will actually be better for him because you don't take a receiver who shows the ability to get open down the field and have him running 2 yard flare patterns!  This kid had 5 tds at the bye week before the offense as a whole went into a ten yard shell that spelled the doom of the coordinator.  Throw out undrafted throw out the 40 time, this kid can get down the field.  Most compotent coordinators let recievers who can get deep get deep!

Hurns is a curious case, and I thought about this yesterday when it was announced that Jedd was let go. I think the common belief is that knowing Jedd's offense from Miami helped Hurns get acclimated to the NFL faster. This is probably true. However, if we believe that to be the case, doesn't that mean that had we kept Jedd, that all three wide receivers would be pretty much on even ground year 2? After all, that would give Lee and Robinson two off-seasons and one rookie year to know the playbook, right? So while Hurns likely would have had a slight advantage still heading into year 2 as far as knowledge of the playbook, it shouldn't be as drastic a difference.

So essentially, all three would be on even playing field regardless of whether they all had the same knowledge of the same playbook...or the same knowledge (or lack) of a new playbook.

Come next season, all would be 2nd year vets and should know expectations for them in the NFL. The only difference is how fast each of them absorbs the new playbook and their own respective skills. The 1st one will be a question, but I think Hurns showed he has the requisite skill set to play in this league.

Hurns will be fine
If Gus hires the correct offensive coordinator then everyone on the offense will only improve over what they were this year.

While Fisch may have been a relative infant trying to jam square pegs into round holes a great offensive coordinator will evaluate the strengths of the guys already on the team and design his scheme to complement the strengths and comfort zones of the guys already on the team.

The change of a coach as high as OC will effect everyone on the offense and to say that Hurns wont be effected would be a lie.

That being said he has proven himself to have good hands, awareness, speed, toughness, strength to break free from tackles after the catch, changing course to adjust for a bad throw.... that stuff will carry over to next year with a new playbook

he's a proven star already.

I dont know if Fisch was such a horrible OC I mean a bad oline isnt going to work no matter who the coach is for the Jaguars.
