Come on think about it

Greg Roman is the OC

Gabbert is a free agent knows the system

Fales is horrible
I truly believe that some people on this message board would pitch in a portion of their annual salary to keep Henne on the team. This is how much they love him.

Quote:At what point can we cut ties without having to pay him?  I see no reason to cut him unless we have his replacement already here.

He only has one year left on his deal

There it is!  Let B&B (Blaine and Blake) battle it out!  Worst two starters from the past two seasons, respectively, lol.  SMH. #Jaguars.

Quote:Maybe wait for the draft, or is it dire he's gone cause he's such a detriment to the team?

I dont see the point in keeping him. He is a backup that is going to make three mill this next season. He isn't good and is absolutely nothing special as a player.

Isn't it no guaranteed money?  I thought I remember hearing that last year.

Either way, I'm great with finding an upgrade but cutting him loose just to get rid of him doesn't make much sense to me.

Who takes his job if we don't backfill in draft or FA?

Yeah. They prolly wait till they see what's available in FA and start negotiations.

No way we aren't signing a free agent dlineman or drafting one.

I think he stays the year and they let him walk

I'm fine with that.  Henne is the least of our worries IMO.
Quote:The only reason we kept henne was he knew the system. Should we dump him and pick up another good veteran Back up or draft a new QB in the later rounds to learn the new system with BB5?

Not sure how much help henne was to BB5

The grass is always greener.  Henne is a serviceable backup.  If you can find anyone better, then by all means but I'd like to hear the candidates.

Id takr Keenum over Henne any day of the week. I hope they look at him this offseason.

Statistically no better than Henne and less experienced.  He's a little more athletic though.  Honestly, if you want to go in that direction, why not just make Morris the backup?

It would seem apparent that with the firing of fisch, Henne's value of 'knowing the system' is invalidated. I question at this point of how much value Henne is to Bortles as well. My thinking is to pick up another later round quarterback and let him learn the system with BB2. A 'good' veteran quarterback isn't likely to be found as that generally isn't what defines free agents. I wouldn't ask Henne to take a pay cut to stay....

Morris? No thanks. Guy was terrible in college. And terrible in preseason. I want someone who I think can lead a team to a couple victories if need be.

You can justvwatch Keenum play and tell he is better than Henne.

I dunno much about Morris, just threw him out there because he's inexperienced like Keenum.  I'm not convinced Keenum's better than Henne as an option.  Watching him, he is definitely not any more accurate although he had a couple of interesting moments against us.  A bit more athletic maybe.  I think Brian Hoyer would be a better option.  He's definitely better than Henne, big guy and has some decent experience and would probably be willing to mentor Bortles and fill that backup role.

Wouldn't mind Hoyer. I just think he is going to try and go be a starter somewhere. Keenum has his issues but I like his attitude and he is fearless.
