tonight a little after 9pm you will see why snowwolf should be the jags OC. there will be a live broadcoast of Madden15 with the Jags.    I'll post the link on sideline just before i start the game.

Go get Philly's OC -- oh wait, Chip Kelley runs that offense.

Go get Denver's OC -- oh wait, Manning runs that offense

Go get Seattle's DC -- oh wait, we did.

Quote:I guess his experience as a RB/WR coach would severely limit his ability to run an offense. I honestly don't see a huge talent gap between a WR Coach and A QB coach. If you are strong leader and have a good staff that can maximize your offensive players then you shouldn't have a problem coaching. Bennets coaching career seems to be on a similar track to a guy like Hue Jackson in terms of NFL experience, both being RB/WR coaches. Prior to being name offensives coordinator in 2004-2006 (great years for the Palmer led Bengals), Jackson was a RB coach. The Bengals fielded the 7th best offense in 2014.

As far as Bortles he will best benefit from directly working with a very experienced QB coach and a OC who understands what he does best on the field.

You might want to check that.
How 'bout Rob Chudzinski? He did good work as OC of the Browns and Panthers with Cam.

Chud would be a great option, as would Trestman.

If Linnehan were to be free, Shad better empty his pocket book and hire the guy.

I was thinking this exact same thing.  I wonder if he is getting interviews throughout the league.

Did you bother to look any of this stuff up, or did you just pull this out of your posterior?

First off, Bennett has been in coaching for how long?  9 years.  5 of those as a RB coach, and 4 as a WR coach.

Jackson has been in coaching for almost 30 years, coaching RBs, WRs, QBs, and special teams.  He also served as an offensive coordinator in college, and for 3 teams in the NFL before he wound up in Cincy.  You might want to check the timeline for his time with the Bengals.  He wasn't the offensive coordinator from 2004-2006.  He coached the receivers.

Google.

You should give it a whirl.

Bennett doesn't have the background Jackson had when he became an offensive coordinator.  He will eventually get there, but he's not a guy you're going to put into this mix.  Too inexperienced and unproven.  The biggest knock on Fisch (and it's been reiterated in this thread multiple times) when Gus hired him was his lack of experience as a coordinator in the NFL.  He had ample experience as a position coach and as a coordinator in the college ranks, so I guess you were a huge supporter of his hire based on how you're peddling Bennett now.

Bennett looks like him.  Therefore, he's the perfect candidate.

Same old, same old.  A pattern from this one.

The fact remains, the best option for us is someone with a proven track record a the OC position, not inexperienced coaches and coaches without accomplishment at the OC position at the NFL level.

Looks like him? You want to say black? Sure he is black! Funny thing you bring that up you sly racist.

Being black had nothing to do with me thinking Bennett would be a good OC. No, I think that my opinions were based on the various comments made by coaches in Packers organization, track record with developing no name players, NFL Insiders, Prisco, and other commentators.

Looks like him? You're a joke.

I brought up Hue Jackson because he's an obvious comparison at least to me. Yes, both are black. Both also had aspirations to coach offenses at the professional level, which has had very few minority coaches. I know what Jackson did at the know the college level but in terms of the NFL Hue Jackson started his first 2 years as a RB coach with the skins. In 2003 he became an OC for the skins. Then between 2004-2006 he was a WR coach with the Bengals. Not totally the same but similar due to the lack of comparisons.
I don't care what Bennett looks like. I actually like the guy. Just don't see him being a legitimate option as an offensive coordinator for this team right now. Not even remotely close.

I know you don't FBT. We can agree to disagree. No problem there. Pirkster on the other hand has a history of very suggestive and loaded comments. I wish he'd just come out and say how he truly feels.

Just like you didn't think Fisch was going to be fired right?
I like Rick Dennison and Clyde Christensen.

Bills interviewing Roman for their head coaching job. Doubt he gets it.

Odd that we havent seen any insider tweets from the Adam Schefters of the world on people the Jags are eyeing.

From Ryan O:

(@ryanohalloran) -Source says "no updates," on #Jaguars offensive coordinator search.

He seems to think we are targeting someone on a current playoff team's staff:

(@ryanohalloran) - Can't talk to guys on other staffs until they're eliminated. Look likes #Jaguars are casting a pretty wide net to find the right guy.

Here's an interesting name:

(@ryanohalloran) - Wonder if #Jaguars will kick tires on Houston QB coach George Godsey to replace Fisch -- was at UCF during Bortles' redshirt year.

If the Jags are targeting someone on a playoff team, they aren't targeting an existing OC. Unless there is a former NFL OC now acting as a position coach on one of the playoff teams, this speculation points to the Jags getting another unproven OC prospect.

I'm hoping the reason the Jags haven't interviewed an OC is that Trestman is already lined up and only waiting to be sure he doesn't get a head coaching offer.

Why? Houston QBs haven't exactly shown any development this past year. Do you think the Jags really want a guy who didn't correct Bortles mechanics when he had the chance at UCF?
