Quote:No. At least I never claimed he's terrible. I think he's very overrated. He's slightly below average to average as a SS in the league. Hardly worth a high 2nd round pick.
He's playing about as well as Dawan Landry, the guy he replaced.
Hardly anyone is saying he's terrible like Prosinski was... but for this defense to be considered "good"... he will need to make a lot of improvement.
He may not be having the breakout season many of us were hoping for but playing at an average level in only your second season isn't that bad of a thing. He does some things well and has a lot of room to grow as a player, but he just has to cut down on his mistakes and a little more experience can fix that.
If he is still playing at this level at this same point next season, then I will have some concerns.
Deion said that he has the 4th highest number of tackles among all DBs in the NFL. Say what you want, but that's pretty decent for a second year player from FIU playing on the youngest team in the league.
Everything gets negatively distorted because of the bad record.
This week he did even better than last week. Back to back best games of his career.
Had an awesome pass breakup in the endzone. That's the kind of stuff I wanna see from hom! Way to go Cyp!
Early in the game he had a missed tackle but that happens.

Also had that nice stop on a run play right at the line/behind the line towards the beginning of the game.
Those are the types of plays I want to see out of Cyp.
His missed tackle was fairly inconsequential, if I remember tonight. Which is nice, because during that stretch where he was getting blasted on here, his missed tackles seemed to result in touchdowns or big gains a lot (which only fueled the criticism.).
Overall though, I didn't get to watch last week's game so I can't comment on how he did, but I had very little to be upset about with Cyp tonight. In fact, I had some things to be excited about with him (the fact that he was finally making some big plays again). This was the type of game I expected to see out of Cyp earlier in the year as a building block for his progression. Hopefully he keeps up the level of play he had tonight (and apparently last week) moving forward.
Just another anomaly the "realist" will say...
