Yeah and John Brantley was the Gatorade National Player of the Year before coming to Florida....
Quote:Why is the job Treon's to lose?  Did you see the history of McElwain's QBs?  CSU Grayson and Alabama (McElroy & John Parker Wilson) are both pro style offenses.

Personally, I wanted the spread type offense with Rich Rodriguez (which I think Treon would excel) but I think the McElwain era will look a lot like Bama's offense. Treon's strength is not accuracy.

Because Treon Harris is the incumbent. Will Grier needs to prove he is better than Harris.

Will Muschamp was just the incumbent and...
So the #1 job in the country is only worth $3.5 million per year? O. K.  then.

Do you understand how little sense that makes?

Foley should pay top dollar just because many sports outlets, and people think Florida is one of the top jobs?

On top of that he's having to pay Muschamp, and a buyout.

Ignore them. They're just assuming the persona of their favorite politician. :-)

You don't know what thats from?!
Incumbent means nothing when you have 2 below average QBs competing for a job under a new coach and new system.  In fact, I'd have to say the person more fitted for the system is in the drivers seat.   There's a reason why a lot of QBs transfer when a new head coach comes in to a school.  I hope Treon stays but I really wouldn't be surprised if Treon transfers.  Heck, I wouldn't be shocked if neither Treon or Grier start next year.

I didn't put the two together. Yes, Corrine Brown. Go Gata. I didn't think the one, two three....was part of that.
I don't know but somebody on here said it was the #1 job in the country. Who knew!

I think McElwain is a good hire but I do have a beef with Foley raiding CSU's coaching staff then nickel-and-diming them to shave the buyout. He then won't take his team to Denver to play CSU to offset the cost but makes them travel to Gainesville to pick up $2 million then makes his new coach cough up $2 million of his own salary to pay CSU too.  He then proceeds to pay his new coach a little more than Pinkel, Bielema, and Richt but less than Miles, Spurrier, Malzahn, Sumlin and Saban.

Just seems like a rotten thing to do if it's the #1 job in the country.

McElwain didn't have to take the job...he didn't have to agree to pay the $2 million....he had a good thing going at CSU and likely would have more job opportunities come forward in the coming year(s).

He took the job despite having to pay $2 million of his own money to take it...I'd argue that says a lot about how good the Florida job is perceived by the guy taking the job.

If he can prove himself at Florida as he has in his previous stops, he'll end up making plenty more money.
