Quote:Well largest buy out in history and there is an interesting article on yahoo talking about how CSU worked Foley in negotiations.
They had the guy he wanted, should CSU not have taken advantage of that and got everything they could from it?
Quote:I've seen it, Forde is all about clicks. He's got some doozies about FSU too. CSU got a good deal out of it. They were smart with asking for and getting approval from McElwain's agent that large of a buyout.
They were and I like that they stuck to the buyout and didn't let the big bad gators come in and take advantage. It sets a precedent as well.

So he worked Foley AND you guys are also saying that Foley paid mcelwain less than he needed to? You can't have it both ways.

They should have yes. Typically no one does though. I applaud them for it.

When it comes down to it, the gators didnt pay the full buyout. Mcelwain wants to be the gators coach and the gators got their guy.
Now we just need to hope he gets it done.

The school worked the gators. Has nothing to do with McElwain's contract. Part of McElwain making less is the fact that he is paying $2 million of his own money.

Correct, they paid $5 million plus paying Muschamp, but pennies for #1 job in the land.

Foley got the salary I think he wanted to give, he doesn't have to pay all of the buyout. He gets an OOC against a D1 opponent at a future time (rather then going out there which he was very against), he gets the guy he wanted, and he gets a guy that really wanted to be here.
CSU when all is said and done knew they were losing their HC. They got 7 million out of the potential 7.5. How they got it didn't matter.
I think in the end all parties should be pretty happy.
Quote:Yeah...you must think our sarcasm detectors are broken!
They are broken because you think I'm being sarcastic

Right, but typically when this happens the other school significantly reduces buy out. That didn't happen and I think that is a great thing for smaller programs.

No. He's making 3.5 mil a year. That doesn't have anything to do with the two million. You really have a hard time grasping things, don't you?

I agree with you. CSU did what was best for them and I don't blame them.

You don't even understand that in your sarcasm that you're actually arguing against your own point. Its hilarious.

Well it does if he has to pay it back. That's part of the deal. The $2 million is real money. If he didn't pay $2 million then he would be that much richer, no?
Try to be civil now achilles. It's Saturday championship week for crying out loud. I know you guys have nothing to play for and typically you seem to be in a foul mood, but you got your head coach. The future is bright. May the sun shine down upon you.

I think it is too. I don't think many larger schools would do what Foley did an dgo through with it either.

It's as entertaining as watching the fail in the Week 15 college football playoff rankings thread.

At the end of the day, fans shouldn't care about the money. You got your guy and that is all that matters.
