He's so much like Roethlisberger. I am not sure how the OC hasn't realized this. You limit him to the pocket and make him play like Brady and he's going to look bad behind an O-line with problems. You let him run around and and throw it deeper and suddenly he looks like an NFL QB.
Bortles may develop into a quality NFL starting QB; however, Caldwell has got to get better offensive linemen in front of him.

Bortles had a decent game today. He didn't light it up, but he didn't make that costly mistake and led his team to victory.

Bortles has shown enough and the line struggled enough that, yes, I think O-line must be addressed to some degree this offseason.
As recent as 5 weeks ago I'd have said it wasn't high on the list of priorities, but I'm slowly moving it higher on my list. Joeckel isn't progressing quickly enough, and though he may be fine in the long run, competition is a good idea at LT, LG, C and RT. Hopefully a couple of FA signings can represent a quick upgrade along with an early-ish/mid-round draft pick. The protection is not there, and the running lanes are too infrequently available to our backs.
The line is horrible, bur Bortles could have played better too. Hes missing some routine throws that NFL QBs just cannot afford to make. I still have hope because his mechanics are so bad, and those at least can be corrected. Its very hard to fix those midseason when theres so many other things to focus on.
Im just glad we have a QB who can stay strong in the pocket and make plays with his feet. Thats what won the game today, not his arm.
Yeah it did seem that we won the game when our offense became basically a college offense.. very gimmicky, but it was effective.
I don't think it's sustainable long term, but props to Fisch for calling some different plays and letting our guys gain some yards.
The offensive line is the biggest problem on this team.... I mean Bortles can't even DROP back to a 5 or 7 step drop because you KNOW he's going to get killed.
Just watched the TD to Lee, and good god, his footwork is so bad. It was a beautiful throw, dont get me wrong, but just like with Stafford if these things dont get fixed hes gonna keeping having a lot of bad with the good. It was a perfect pocket and he threw flat footed, didnt step into it at all. Its nice that he can do that but jeez he has a long way to go.

some of the pictures I see of him right before throwing the ball has his entire body in such an awkward position - something you almost never see with the elite QBs.
But he's as advertised - he will need a lot of work and will need to improve a lot. But at least he's given us another week to be hopeful for the future. I don't think I could have watched him be as bad as he was last week.

I would rather have him sitting and reviewing for the next drive, like how Brady, Rodgers, and Manning do it.
I think the last Jaguars' drive is Bortles first game-winning drive. Here's hoping there are lots more.
If we can beat Tennessee, the Jaguars could end up with 3 wins. I was hoping the Jaguars would have the first draft pick. Don't guess that will happen now. Oh, well, it's more important that Bortles learns how to finish a game. Let's hope that started today.

Since they won today forget about where we end up in the draft, lets build some momentum to go into the offseason and into the next season. If we continue to play like this on defense and the offense can finish we can build off that for next year. Im so happy they won and now I just want them to win out so badly

With our current OL (sans our starting RT) and our back 7 on defense, I don't think the Jaguars can beat the Ravens and it will be difficult to beat Houston twice. The best I am hoping for is that the Jaguars beat Tennessee and split with Houston. Bortles needs to learn how to win games, where to find that "it" to put together touchdown-making drives. I would love to see him do it this year, but I think he needs a little more help from the OL, TE, LB, and FS.

The two games we've won have been literally 3 turnovers, defensive scores, or turnovers that set up easy touchdowns.

The defense has to win games when you're starting 5-6 rookies on offense. Do people really think you can start 5-6 rookies on offense and put up 21 points a game? This is a "post college grad" offense playing seasoned vets with 5-10 years in the league. This Oline would get eaten alive if it had to play a game against our Dline.
I want to see OL in FA and OL in the draft. Keep adding talent until this thing is fixed. I'm not saying the current players can't be good...but keep the influx of talent coming until there;s a good solid combination that creates room for RBs and time for QBs.

How often do truly good OL men hit free agency? I mean, look at Beadles. The guy is trash. Any long term staple at OL you want on your team will be drafted, not picked up in FA.
