Quote:Probably the same thing that Anger did when he was picked!Same thing gene smith did. He trolled us with that pick... and every other pick he made during his tenure.
Quote:I think Paztor still has potential.Eh. I don't really agree to be honest. He should have that motivation regardless of who is behind him.
What he needs is some genuine competition at RT. That way he either elevates his game or gets relegated to back up.
It would be nice if they could find a young FA hungry for a starting job to compete with Paztor.
Quote:where are all the Pasztor guys from earlier in the year?
they are eerily silent

Quote:Some guys are internally motivated. Some require external motivation. Depends on the personality.I would think a fat paycheck and recognition would be enough external motivation.
Quote:I would think a fat paycheck and recognition would be enough external motivation. That alone just leads to complacency and a sense of entitlement.
Quote:What would people say if we pick at number 2 again and once again take a tackle for the right side of the line.. Someone like Cedric Ogbuehi who can play left tackle, right tackle and right guard.I wouldn't be. We need to protect our young, raw, developing qb. The more time he has, the more it opens up the offense. We do need a TE on offense as his safety option, but we won't pick one in the first round anyways. If we took Jameis Winston, then I'd be pissed.
It would be a good insurance policy for Blake, but man would people be upset.
Quote:That alone just leads to complacency and a sense of entitlement.Maybe I didn't communicate that correctly. If he does well and performs, he will get paid more. Dangling a much larger contract in front of him is not leading to complacency. There are plenty of other players that have zero competition that have performed at an elite level, even after a fat contract.
Someone trying to take that fat check and recognition leads to motivation.
Basic human nature.
Quote:Were there really that many Pasztor fans? I like him because he was an UDFA who made good, and also a Canadian, but he should definitely face competition next year. If he loses, I'd still favour keeping him as a backup RT/G.Exactly. Just a delusional attempt to stir the pot. Folks (myself included) were happy to have one less immediate need to fill in the offseason. No one touted the guy as a future all-pro.
As fans, we often make it seem like every player who struggles is the worst to ever suit up. Maybe that player isn't a good full-time starter, but they still have value on a 53 man roster.

It's just the way we are wired. That's why coaches love people to compete for roster spots and depth chart position. It tends to bring out peoples A game better than just throwing around money.
Quote:What's funny is that a lot of people defended the pick.
