Quote:Hopefully Ereck Flowers comes back from his injury.  He would be perfect on the right side next to Linder and he already knows the system and is Linders buddy.

How come nobody talks about this guy?  My favorite prospect at RT behind Scherff
Quote:where are all the Pasztor guys from earlier in the year?

they are eerily silent

I'm still in his corner and hope he gets re-signed, although ideally I'd like to see someone legitimately beat him out in camp with him being kept for depth.

Would not be at all suprised to see him be our round 2 or 3 pick.
This regime has failed on many levels, and one is just assuming young players will develop and get better.

Perfect example was Mike Brewster - where they didn't provide him with adequate competition during training camp and pre-season.  They literally GAVE him the starting job until he fell on his face multiple times.  Luckily Bowanko looks better, but even he doesn't strike me as a long term solution yet.  I'm alright with him going into next year - but if a better Center prospect falls low enough (say, round 5-6) that also has ability to play guard, we need to get him.

The same applies to RT this year.  I said last year that Pasztor played decently, but no better than Cam Bradfield did at LT.  We need an upgrade there for sure.

One thing that gives me hope with Austin Pasztor is the fact that he is only 24 years old.

Competition, I am confident they will bring in some competition.

Hopefully someone that can play multiple positions so we can get rid of some of the dead weight.

Jacques McClendon - Needs to Go

Sam Young - Needs To Go

Tyler Shatley - Need To Grow and Show why they kept him around

Josh Wells - Need To Grow and Show why they kept him around

As far as upgrading the line:

Brandon Scherff - He looks great in that one video but has he maxed out with his development? Can you coach him up to be better than he is right now because he will need to continue to progress to be effective in the NFL at Tackle. I remember Robert Gallery and he was the best to come out of Iowa at the time but he had to move to Guard.

Ereck FLowers - Looks good for all the right reasons but that seems pretty high to select a RT. Caldwell however, has already shown he will pick a RT pretty high.

Cameron Erving - Tackle or Center, interesting combo. I have not really watched him to see if he is that dominant but he does fit the size (read length) of the players selected by this regime.

Someone for depth would be.

Jamil Douglas - Plays LT for ASU this year, he played LG prior to that. I believe they run a ZBS and he is a strong (not absurdly strong like Scherff) and athletic player that should be available late.

I am aware this post is more in line with the College forum but I think my keyboard is possessed.

he won't make it to the 3rd, would be lucky if he falls to the 2nd
Pasztor having a hamstring rupture makes me completely sold that he will need to get replaced. A ruptured hamstring is even more concerning than a torn ACL in many cases because he will be significantly weaker than he was this year.

Trade back and take him later in the first?
Quote:Were there really that many Pasztor fans? I like him because he was an UDFA who made good, and also a Canadian, but he should definitely face competition next year. If he loses, I'd still favour keeping him as a backup RT/G.

As fans, we often make it seem like every player who struggles is the worst to ever suit up. Maybe that player isn't a good full-time starter, but they still have value on a 53 man roster.

Agree on all points. At best, he'll stay healthy and be the starter we need. At worst, he's an upgrade over Young and Wells.

Nothing wrong at all with keeping him and adding competition in the draft.

You're saying this regime has failed because the team has holes?  First off, this team is in the 2nd year of a massive rebuild, and secondly, EVERY team has holes.  It's not possible to do what you are suggesting.  You do the best you can to fill the gaps and provide the most adequate depth but that takes time, and even super bowl winning teams have holes.

Good points.

I also believe Wells and Shatley are the only current backups we'll see in the future. The others are playing themselves off the roster.

Your reading comprehension sucks.

"we didn't give him any competition".  Well he had a rookie and no one else.  Paztor had no real competiition.  Those are holes in the roster.  My comprehension is fine, your point, or lack thereof, is what sucks.  Clown.
The Jags need to draft Olineman like the Cowboys have. It's Blake Bortles only hope because he gets crushed multiple times a game.

You don't give all the first team snaps to a clown like Brewster that never earned those reps. Splitting them would've found Bowanko the winner and our offensive line would've gelled much quicker.

Everyone knows holes on the roster will exist, how someone deals with them is the real issue.

Putting Brewster back there stubbornly for week after week when everyone knew he would suck was a disaster waiting to happen.

You should really go be a coach somewhere.

Why so butthurt?

The jags need you to be their personal protector on the message board?

I don't agree with how they handled the center positon specifically, among other things.

If you wanna just say "everyone has holes you clown" or another cliche saying like "it's a process".... Be my guest...

If the jags don't get real competition for pasztor this offseason I will once again be very disappointed because they are counting on an unproven guy with a serious injury to come back and actually IMPROVE upon his poor play.

Don't you know if you disagree with the team in ANY way you are a moron bandwagon fan. Come to think of it, there is no such thing as a band wagon Jags fan.
Quote:I think we can find an upgrade in free agency.  Draft a RT in the mid/late rounds as depth.
Shouldnt be too hard to find a good RT in 3rd to 5th round, but I would keep Paztor for depth maybe cut the other OTs like Sam.
There are going to be some good RT's in the second round.  Would make a lot of sense to go DE/OLB with our first pick then RT with our second.
