Quote:J.T. Thomas played better than Poz last week and George played almost equally as well. And they are UDFA's. LOL.

Poz won't be on the roster in 2015, we've found younger, cheaper effective replacements.

Quote:Its almost a pick your poison. Die by the pass (Poz), or die by the run (JT).

J George had a few impressive run stops before exiting the game. I was pretty bummed about that injury.

I don't think he's gone until his contract expires. We have the cap space and there is no denying he is good depth.

Khan may step in on this one. Poz is a fan favorite, and if was released there would be an uproar in Jax. They will let him ride off into the sunset overpaid.

Finally!!!

Someone that sees what I've been reiterating due to the injury to Poz. First off I agree that we have suffered in the pass coverage w/Poz. The flip side to Poz's injury is that we'll suffer in the run game w/o Poz...

What does our D pride itself on, stopping the pass over the middle or stopping the run?

J.T. is a better fit @ the OTTO position as proven. Hopefully George can man the middle...

This is awful logic. Why would you keep him as "depth" to be one of the highest paid middle linebackers in the game? You think there would be an uproar if the 9 million we save by cutting Poz goes towards someone like Julius Thomas or K.J. Wright?

Look, I like Poz. He's a good guy in the locker room and he had some moments in Jacksonville, but he is horribly, horribly overpaid. That's not his fault, but given his putrid play this year along with his ridiculous cap hit, it makes no sense not to cut him, or at the very least ask him to take a massive pay cut.

And this is Exactly why there's So Much Hate for Poz. Most feel that he's Overpaid...

Overpaid or Not, Poz is a darn good MLB regardless of the pass deficiencies.

If he returns in 2015, I doubt that he'll be a reserve player...

Highly Doubtfull I Say...

I couldn't agree with DavidzPimpsuit more. It is ridiculous to keep him at that price. Uproar in Jacksonville? Over a MLB who can't cover? Please.

If they keep guys like this b/c they've been good soldiers or whatever then the team is doomed.

In order to say that Poz is overpaid, one would have to compare his sallary and performance on the field to the other top paid MLBs. I feel that Poz is more than servicable, given his past performances, BUT we Must find his replacement and we Must find him quick. I Say the 2015 draft will be where we'll find his replacement. And/If we do, then ask him to take a pay cut and determine the future by his response to the pay cut. Regardless, if the team releases Poz at any point, there will be No Uproar...

If they cut him before the next football year starts they save almost $3-4 million in cap space IIRC.  I think he may be a good candidate to be cut after this season is over.

They will save 5,450,000 next year and 7,450,000 in 2016 if we cut him at the end of the year.  No way does Dave keep him on the roster for depth.  It will would be 2,050,000 in dead money next year and 50,000 in dead money 2016

JT Thomas is the kind of player I want on this team, he wants to be good and it shows.

Nobody hates Poz. Nobody has a reason to hate Poz. HE'S JUST NOT GOOD.
"Nobody hates Poz. Nobody has reason to hate Poz. HE'S JUST NOT GOOD"

Here is what I do not understand, If Poz is "NOT GOOD" why didn't the Jags start JT Thomas in the first place. If Poz is really "NOT GOOD" wouldn't the Jags just go grab a practice squad guy or trade for someone that is at least average.

I suspect the Jags coaching staff thinks Poz is a pretty good LB.

Agreed...

We're referring to an "Tackling Machine" that resembles Super Man, Sorry I couldn't resist, and a pro bowler. A player that has solidified the MLB position since the departure of Smith. A position that's been the leader in tackles and not just only on our team but in the NFL...

As he's IR'd, that MLB will be an issue to say the least and it'll continue to show up in the run game as per the past two games..

Alright, this is Seriously Nagging At Me to the point of anziety... Not really but I hope you all get my meaning...

.

I've rewatched our past game and I concentrated on why we've become the team to run on, the MLB position. Now I know that some has labeled me as a [BLEEP] lover/J.T. hater but the film doesn't lie. Thomas did more flailing w/his hands than making plays. He was so out of position throughout the game that it's Seriously Not Funny... Seriously... Either he was man handled out of position or it was self inflicting. I mean C'Mon J.T.

I truly hate to be negative w/respect to the Jaguars but...............................

Jeremiah George Please get healthy throughout the Bye...

PLEASE, I'M BEGGING...

George was a great pick up.  Without Poz, then without George, MLB is nearly non existent.

It's clear why they want (need) JT on the outside.  Having to bring him in weakens both positions.
Did not follow his stats, but I did notice him out of position to make tackles on several runs, I specifically remember one play that opened up so big a semi could drive through it and he was being blocked one on one by a guard and being DOMINATED. He wasn't fighting off blocks.

I wasn't going to start a thread on him because he is new and learning, but his history is about 3 tackes a game, and he stood out to me as pretty bad. I followed just him on numerous plays and I don't think the guy will be long in the league, he is what 4 years vet? I think it may be his last. He is really small, can't hold the run, has no instincts for the pass and plays with no anticipation. This man was a bad pickup IMHO.

he is bad in coverage.  he was falling down, biting on pump fakes when Witten was the only guy in his area.  If Poz had done those things, everybody would be in here talking about how horrible he is.

I've yet to see George play due to his early injury but as I read the comments of his play, he's a Very Much Needed Man in the Middle...

As for J.T. weakening our D, I've said it once, twice and I'll say it "THRICE"...

Our D took a step backward when we lost Poz...
