Quote:I don't understand why people think Gruden is god when it comes to coaching. He won a super bowl but it was Tony Dungys team. I really don't care if they hire him or not. Pagano or Gruden they both will stink and make Lucks career crap along with the GM.

Hey now you are talking about the guy who developed teh great Trent Dilfer
Quote:You guys would be so happy if we hired Gruden lol this posturing is unnecessary

Agreed

Report: Mike McCoy back to Broncos as offensive coordinator http://wp.me/p14QSB-ae43

Booooooo!
Quote:Agreed
I've never been a fan of Grudens, I remember his crappy playcalling. Overly complicated verbiage of his scheme and an offense that wasn't very creative at all. Never understood all the love for him. Dennis Green, Herm Edwards, Jim Mora jr. were all better coaches.
Gruden did take the Raiders from nothing to SB contenders. And he did get the Bucs over the hump, and into the playoffs a couple more times. He is probably better than Pagano as a coach. I would rather the clots keep Pagano then get Gruden.

Quote:I am hoping Coughlin gives him some leeway on choosing his staff. I think there's so much ambiguity on how things are going to be handled. I don't even know if the press conference will tell the whole story.

How much will Coughlin have his hands on game planning? Free agency? Picks? Etc...it will be an interesting adjustment.
Coughlin knows first hand how important it is for the HC to pick his own staff...I can't see him meddling in that area
Quote:No, teal time radio is saying that even if Marrone wants Hackett to be the OC Coughlin will just go ahead and hire McCoy anyway because he's the head guy and that's what he wants to do. Not taking into account the whole "team work" aspect that coaches need to have as well to make things work.

If the Jaguars are going after McCoy, I'm sure they have a plan in place for Hackett and while he may not like not being the OC, Marrone knows having McCoy can only help the team.
Did you miss the press conference?

Did you see the blocks coughlin did on Marrone today?

And I don't know squat right?

How bout no....

Sir you are wrong. But thanks for playing.

He already blocked a few moves today. And in turn hired a better ST guy. That is how a business works.
So we missed out on Mccoy and Wade Phillips. I wonder who they have in mind.
Quote:@bradwellsnfl Source: Jon Gruden has been approached regarding the Colts head coach job, which is still Chuck Pagano's. Gruden is interested in the job.

Ummmmm

Please do expand upon the Ummmmm. I don't even know what it's supposed to mean.

A few? I saw one report and it hasn't been said WHO hired the ST coach either...Caldwell could have said, "YO TOM! Marrone wants this guy" and Tom said "K" Very few HCs dont pick their own staff...

Vetoing one hire is a little bit different than forcing someone someone onto the staff.
I'm guessing we're going with Hackett now? Sad Sad
What if we pulled over Shanahan with an assistant coach title? lol

Shannahan already said the only way he is leaving is if it's for a perfect situation.'

I doubt adding assistant coach to his name will be perfect.

What could be more perfect than going to a losing team, with a perfectionist at the helm, a stadium with swimming pools, and a QB who may or may not be it? Come on, that's gotta be a ticket in!!! lol

Not a done deal yet and might not happen. We have to wait and see.

Still hoping to bring in some big guns.

How can you have "perfect" if you fired your head coach? He may be waiting a long time.
Moving to NFL at Large since he's no longer a candidate.
