Quote:Colvin has an advantage in that when he started playing at Oklahoma, he first started at safety then moved to corner. He's lengthy and aggressive at the line of scrimmage. He's not the kind of guy to let his WR get a clean break off the line of scrimmage. He'll throw off route timing.
What he lacked was the deep speed to recover if a WR got a step on him. Basically he's the perfect type of corner for the system Gus wants to run because he has the length and aggressiveness they want at the LOS. Plus him not having that deep speed shouldn't be too big of an issue if Evans keeps improving like he has the last two weeks.
So So True...
And this is the reasoning that Colvin was drafted at his position despite the posibility of him being red shirted in 2014. His talents/potential was acknowledged during the senior bowl practices to the point of Bradley telling him personally that we would draft him regardless of his injury... I'm seriously excited to see what improvements he brings to the DB position...
Colvin's Debut is among us...

Didn't he get hurt after day 1 in the senior bowl?
Most of day 1 is stretching, learning how to line up, weighing in, etc...
Not a lot of actual field work is done, so I'm not convinced that they saw anything extraordinary from him after 1 day during the senior bowl.

I not sure at which point that he sustained the injury but I do know/remember Bradley praising him for his talents. Evidently the coaching staff saw enough to draft him as they did...
That's enough for me as well...

"Colvin's Debut" has begun. He's set to practice and if the practice sessions goes well, the debut begins...

As per Bradley, Colvin has the desired quickness and even though he may not play Sunday, he'll asuridly (huh?) be activated to the 53 man roster wayyyyyyy before the impending deadline to do so...

I haven't been paying enough attention to D. McCray since he was inserted into the lineup. Obviously people are saying hes good but how good is he at the moment? Is he doing good "just for a rookie" or doing good as in "pro bowl possibility" good?

It seems to be perfect timing because Ball may be out for an extended period of time.

He's been solid. He hasn't given up the big play and has a few pass break ups on his stat sheet. He's given up a few catches that he could've possibly defended. I would like to see him be more aggressive (same to all of our CBs) and make a few more plays on the ball.

I'll say... I'll also say that I was thinking the same thing w/respect to the timing...

McCray being solid is ill stated. He's been so agressive that he's relegated Gratz as the nickle DB..
Not Bad... Actually Good...

That's overstating it quite a bit.
karnn actually nailed it. To add to that, he's been consistent, which is an improvement and is why Gratz is sharing time with him at the position. But by no means would I expect to be the future at CB.

Not so sure I agree with the sentiment of "perfect timing". The recent injuries make me a bit nervous that they may rush Colvin out there as a result. Although we're thin at corner, if they really think he will be a future starter, I would caution against playing for the short term need if he's not truly ready.

Quote:Nope. McCray has played well.Gratz played well yesterday, and has been pretty solid all season, not sure what your definition of suck is.
Gratz sucks.

With Colvin being ready and McCray playing pretty darn well I guess it's up to Gratz/Ball to figure out who wants to stay healthy with Blackmon out.

Have we heard any more on him yet? Is there a chance he plays before the bye?

You dont! Im so tired with the INSANITY attitude on this board. Im ready to win now! Tired of waiting and being content like you guys.
I don't know about Colvin, but Telvin has already gotten a good bit better during the course of the season. It is a safe bet that he will continue to improve.
