Interesting Story:
http://members.jacksonville.com/sports/f...g-progress
<p style="font-family:Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">"Caldwell said he called Khan in the lead-up to the Week 3 game against Indianapolis about the team’s plan to possibly play Bortles if Chad Henne continued to struggle (Bortles entered at halftime).
<p style="font-family:Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">“I try to inform him of the big stuff as much as I can,” Caldwell said."
Also from the same story:
"Asked if Bradley is able to run his preferred defensive scheme, Caldwell said: “I think we’re probably piece-mealing it a little bit. I think we’re running a lot of the scheme but because we’re so young, we have to mix in some different coverages. But the [secondary] is coming along. Physically, they have some traits and talent. For them, it’s the little things and attention to detail.”"
Man, Caldwell is a great interview.
Fisch on the running game:
http://members.jacksonville.com/sports/f...-continues
"The problem facing Fisch is that there isn’t one consistent problem that is holding the rushing attack back.
<p style="font-family:Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">“It’s not the same guy, and it’s not the same issue each time,” Fisch said. “If we could pinpoint this is the problem with the run or this is the problem. … We’ve got to find a way to be consistent across the board, so at least all the 11 are doing the right thing.”"
I think Gus Bradley said after the Colts game the plan was Henne first half and Bortles second half.
This week Bradley and Fisch talked about committing to the run. They think if we never run, we will never get better at it, so we need to include more running plays.

All that says to me is that it IS the same problem - the SCHEME/ coaching!!
But but but I thought Khan made a call and forced them to make the switch.

At this point Gratz should be getting nothing but nickel and dime coverage.

Only a conspiracy theorist would make up that crap. Team owners don't make calls to bench struggling quarterbacks during games.

Stupid lying Gm-speak?

Thanks for the info. It does make sense that the coaching staff doesn't trust it's young secondary, so they try bend don't break stuff. Just wish they could do more to their potential rather than dumbing it down so much.

This doesn't look good for gratz or Caldwell. He was supposed to be our corner stone CB. Hopefully he turns it around. But hey, best man wins the job, I like that.

Who said the coaches don't trust the secondary? Didn't someone say htey are getting better?

Um....Caldwell also drafted McCray....the current starter (who's doing VERY well, btw)
Gratz was a bad pick, but I'm guessing that one was on Bradley or had Bradley influence.

i don't remember anyone ever saying he was meant to be our cornerstone CB.

If Gratz can be a reliable nickel and backup, it is not bad at all for Caldwell.

Why doesn't it look good for Caldwell?
I mean I'd much rather have Larry Warford, but not every pick is going to be a hit.

You could also view it as Caldwell hitting a home run in the 7th round rather than failing in the 3rd. Whichever way it turns out, they are both Caldwell picks - let the best man win.

Really. Please check all the gratz threads before this season. He's good, he wears Mathis old number. The list goes on. Boy am I getting beat up today, lol. I'll see you tomorrow?
