Quote:So we patiently wait 4 years for Joeckel to improve, and then trade him for next to nothing and draft the next LT to develop for four years? That seems to be the current philosophy.

Posting this in multiple threads is not going to make it true.

The way Caldwell handled Monroe is irrelevant when it comes to Joeckel. He didn't draft Monroe. He obviously didn't want to keep Monroe. He got what he could for him. This isn't that hard to grasp.

He's not playing badly although I understand the argument that he hasn't lived up to the earlier Boselli comparisons (which were misplaced to begin with). He is still developing though, he hasn't played a full season yet. What makes you think we'll have to wait 4 more years?

For the 2nd pick in the draft, even with his previous injury, we shouldn't have to wait this long to see production.. He gets owned way too often and it just seems like there's no aggressiveness.. Might as well throw a 300 pound bag of dog food out there and stick it in a Jags uniform.

I get the second pick thing but he's playing pretty well for a guy that is basically still a rookie experience wise. Guys like Boselli are the exception. Joeckle is more of a finesse player and in that sense, I'd like to see more physicality too, but he is what he is. He doesn't "get owned way to often", in fact the mistakes he does make have been decreasing to me when I watch the replays.

For the 2nd pick? He sure the hell does.. Yeah, finesse player.. He gets finessed enough out there..

If you say 2 or 3 instances a game are to many for a rook then I guess you're right but I'd bet most realistic fans know better.

The ONLY thing he's got going for him right now is that he's better than Monroe, and that amounts to jack squat. But I guess I'm not a realistic fan since I'm not sipping on the teal urine..

Teal urine? Good gravy, the bitterness has officially sunk to a new low!

No kidding.

That, and he was overpaid for being a very average LT.  Poor run blocker, and merely adequate pass blocker.  Not getting any better.

Vs. a young LT who is among the better run blockers in the league already (I'd suggest anyone who doesn't think so take a closer look) who isn't bad at pass blocking but is still improving.

They made the investment and had planned to move on the moment he was drafted.  They knew Monroe would be overpaid to stay, and it wasn't going to happen.  Why this is still even a thing, is baffling.  LT is far from our biggest concern on the oline, both now and in the future.

I lol'd but it's true.  Some of these people have teal urine all over their face

#1.  LT is by far your most important position on the online.  Lets not act like Joeckle has sealed the Job and it's safe with him.  He has been mediocre on both run and pass.

#2.  Oh god no, they have to spend some of the cap money they don't spend anyway?  Heavens no, we would only have another 30 million left.
Boselli wouldn't agree with this. http://teamstre.am/1sCGpGw Seems like everybody is on the opposite side of the isle from him except a few fan boys. It's not hard to see that he's looked like crap in these games.
Curious to see how he matches up against JJ watt...

The fact this thread exists means that LT is a concern. Maybe not the 'biggest' concern at this time, but there is no guarantee it won't turn into that. That's rather pathetic for a position that was filled using the 2nd overall pick in the draft.

But please educate me. What oline position is a FAR bigger concern? Linder and Bowanko have looked good for rookies. Pasztor was solid last year (the best RT the Jags have had for a long time). He should be fine once he heals completely. Beadles has been disappointing so far, but he's a proven veteran.

Joeckel has been in this offense for two years. He missed playing time last year, but that doesn't keep him from studying the playbook and mastering his knowledge of who/where he's supposed to block.

Lol, at Matt Miller.  I think Joeckel can turn it around but Bleacher Report's Matt Miller the wanna be scout might be the worst I have seen at trying to evaluate talent.  The guy fails every year on who thinks are the top prospects.  Maybe Joeckel can turn it around and he can finally get one right.
