Mullen has done a good job building that program. Sustaining it is an even bigger task. He'll never be more in demand than this offseason. If he is going to bolt for a big time job like Florida or Michigan, this is the year.

Stoops is one of the top 5 highest paid coaches in the country. He is at a football power and just a few hours drive from one of the three best states for high school talent. I would be shocked if he left OU.

Quote:the remarks where i said that prescott didnt make mullen successful? and that recruiting and having an entire great defense is a very impressive feat?

you said that mullen is where he is because of prescott... totally untrue.
QB's make the engine run. Without him, this team is completely different.
Quote:its a significant step up.

if it's a step up then it's a very minor step up and not really worth the headache

OU is a title contender almost every year.  UF at this point needs a lot of work.
Quote:Sure it is. You'd be hard pressed to find those who think otherwise, for many reasons.

how do you figure?  he's the 5th highest paid coach in the nation.
this kind of reminds me of when Texas fans thought they were the hottest ticket in the world.  UF is not it right now.  Spurrier and Meyer are long gone and the glory days are over.  It's a big boy job no doubt, but its hardly one I see a guy like Stoops jumping all over.  I don't think he has any desire to leave the perennial contender he has built so he can go get beat up by the already established SEC schools.

I think it is pretty much a lateral move.

exactly.  its not happening.

true but there are a lot of guys in the country who could qb for miss st, also, who got him there in the first place? mullen.

Your basing it on pay alone? There's muuuch more to it then that when you base best college job is America. Take a look at those "in the know". The consensus is that UF is no worse then top 3, and possibly #1.  Stoops has also gotten to that level of pay because of his success. OU wouldn't pay a coach what he's getting now to a brand new HC. He started at OU making 650,000. Muschamp is making 3 million.

i forgot everyone here was clairvoyant. now that there is a playoff system in place, OU isnt going to make it in the title game by going undefeated. theyre going to play the SEC powers in the playoffs and theyre going to lose. UF doesnt really need that much work, the defense is there. there are pieces on offense.

if stoops came over from OU he would have his current recruiting areas as well as tapping into the other state with the most talent in the country.

he would also get a raise in pay or there would be no reason to take the job.

and no one is saying its happening, people are saying florida should try. you and your predetermined outcomes must really work out well for you in life. you never have anything interesting to say on the boards. 99% of your posts are just bashing other people's thoughts.... not really a lot of value in that.

There are a lot of guys you could take from one team and put on another and still be good, that's irrelevant. There aren't many you could replace Prescott with and do what he's able to do. His size, speed, running ability, and arm are big time.

I don't even think Foley will. Nor do I think he should to be honest.

thats not my point. i dont even like stoops.

I wasn't trying to infer that either.

no, you didn't read the many other reasons I noted as well?

ok and again, who got prescott there? did he magically just appear and say "HEY COACH MULLEN, IT LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE AN OK TEAM HERE, YOU KNOW WHAT? IM GONNA COME PUT YOU OVER THE TOP!"

mullen recruited prescott and every single other player on that team. his success isnt because of prescott, its because he recruited well and is a good coach.

the last time OU won a championship was 14 years ago.

in the BCS era the SEC have won 9 of the 16 championships, the big 12 have won 2, and one of them was oklahoma's 14 years ago.

"they're going to lose"

I guess you missed the bowl game where they destroyed Alabama.  Sorry for disagreeing.  No where did I "bash" anything in this thread.  Im not alone when I say OU to UF is not a step up.  And it really makes no sense for Stoops unless he wants to make his life more difficult.

youre in the minority, but it doesnt matter. the point is florida is one of, if not the most attractive coaching job in college football, so the gators can get a big time name in here and thats what they should do.
