I want to see Blake have consecutive games where he doesn't throw int that is improvement

Quote:Actions are more important than words. Let's see how it all plays out during an actual game instead of taking everybody's word for fact.

Fisch's job is all words, silly LOL. It is up to Bortles to do what Fisch tells him to do, so you can't judge everything Bortles does on what Fisch calls. How do you know what Bortles heard in his helmet?
Quote:Just calm down guys, it was one rough game against the Steelers. There's plenty of things for us to gripe about, Bortles not slinging it for all of 2 quarters isn't one of them.

Um, its actually been more than just 2 bad quarters. Its now 6 consecutive quarters of similar style football is why people are uneasy. Especially when this is a stark contrast to the previous/ consistent 10 or so quarters of football by Bortles that preceded it.

This is the mindset that turns the guy into a game manager.

I'm guessing this is the mindset that Bradley and Fisch are forcing on him, which in turn is making the passes more conservative in recent games.

Peyton Manning threw like 30 INT's his rookie year. Andrew Luck threw almost 20 his rookie year.

Let Bortles be Bortles.

I don't want another game manager.

Quote:No I have never heard of halftime adjustments. Please enlighten me. You are clearly the smartest person on earth since everything is so obvious to you.

What happens is when a team is getting beat or struggling in the first half, if the coaches are smart, they change their plan for the second half to give their opponent different looks they can't attack.

The Eagles were very good at this in Week 1. Then the Chargers were good at it in Week 4. Unfortunately, we are not very good at doing it with six rookies on offense.

He was going down field all day in the 1st half. It doesn't show up on the box score because they where dropped but he didn't start "dinking and dunking" until the 2nd half.

I have sources in the organization that said Fisch purrs like a cat in Bortles' helmet through the microphone. This is 100% fact because somebody said it was. Apparently Lindsey Duke is a cat person and they have 20 cats, so the purring comforts Blake when he is nervous.

Personally, I hate cats, but I like the way they taste fresh off the grill with some BBQ sauce.

Actually a game with only one interception would be improvement.

And he never went down the field at all in the second half?

Maybe it had something to do with San Diego's defense.
There are so many morons on this board. Teams have been making halftime adjustments that have thrown off a rookie QB and his rookie weapons. Bortles will be fine, he is just taking his lumps now. I feel that the play calling has improved with Bortles under center, if anything.

You are right - there are many morons on this board. I called them stupid for saying, "Bortles is a problem," after he played only 10 quarters LOL.

I was watching it on DVR, I didn't watch all of the 2nd half since I already new we lost. But in the 1st half he was attacking down field, Hurns dropped a couple of 20+ passes.

Are you counting the juggling 44-yard catch as a drop?

If you did not watch the entire second half, you have no right to say he never threw downfield after halftime.

Where's that damn ignore button again!????

LOL If you want to ignore me that should not be the post to trigger your decision.

You mean the 10 quarters in the FREAKIN' PRESEASON???
Quote:He was going down field all day in the 1st half. It doesn't show up on the box score because they where dropped but he didn't start "dinking and dunking" until the 2nd half.

All day?? He had a few in the first half, but it mostly was short [BLEEP] the whole game. It was just even more pronounced in the 2nd half.

He's been a polar opposite QB the past 6 quarters of football compared to what we saw the preceding entirety of his Jacksonville play. (including preseason)
Quote:You mean the 10 quarters in the FREAKIN' PRESEASON???

including it yes.

And before you try to discount the preseason, Gabbert and Henne still looked like the typical Gabbert and Henne in their preseasons, too.

So the fact that there is such a stark difference in Bortles' play from before halftime at San Diego (all the way back to preseason) and the the play after it, is relevant.

You are a shady, shady ape...lol. But this post did make me chuckle, I'm not gonna lie. Tongue
I think we underestimate the fact that our offense has 7 starters that have played 5 games or less of NFL football.  We basically have a glorified college team on offense.  I'm sure Bortles is not the only one making mistakes.  Guys missing blocks, running routes incorrectly, etc., etc.  I'm actually surprised we played as well as we did the last 2 weeks.
