I'm going on the record of saying I am not a fan of the whole Tennessee in October!! It's supposed to be the third Saturday in September!!!
So I went to the Clemson game last night. Every year I go somewhere new to tailgate and watch a game and this was it this season. Let me tell you Clemson is an awesome scene for college football. Tailgating all over campus. A huge lot with all the RVs. My buddy and I actually crashed a big donor's tailgate over by the indoor practice facility and there werent a whole lot of people there so they let us in. Free food, drinks, dessert everything. Got to walk around the indoor practice facility. Was awesome. Before that we went to a place called Esso which apparently used to be an old gas station turned bar. Pretty cool scene there. Just a great experience all around. And that was with Clemson coming off a terrible loss to FSU and playing a mediocre opponent in UNC. I cant imagine the scene during a big game weekend. Would be unbelievable. Highly recommend it for anyone who hasnt been. My buddy and I were joking that we should kick the Gamecocks out of the SEC and bring in Clemson. I'd much rather go there every other year than Columbia.
Great games this weekend.... especially in the SEC. anyways my teams....
Vandy at UGA - my two schools play each other. A bunch of friends coming in for this. Have to think UGA rolls. Usually I pull for Vandy but if their season is lost and UGA has a lot to play for I'll pull for the Dawgs. And while that probably holds true I've got so many Vandy friends coming to visit I'll probably pull for them. I bet the game is over at halftime anyways and we just go to the bars. The only reason Vandy could keep it close is that their run defense isnt that bad and it's their passing defense that is lousy. Well the Dawgs cant throw it all that well with Mason. But I still dont see it. Will be an ugly game.
Cougar Watch - BYU hosting in state opponent Utah St. Aggies were a sleeper midmajor team this year but have disappointed. Have to think BYU rolls and stays undefeated.
other games....
Alabama at Ole Miss - first of three huge SEC games. Ole Miss runs hot and cold. Ole Miss cant win if they're cold. Need Beau Wallace to have a huge game. I will say I'm not sure how good Blake Sims is. Was that last game a fluke or is that what we'll see going forward? Bama hasnt looked as dominant this year running the ball.
LSU at Auburn - game 2. LSU needs to get their QB situation figured out. Jennings isn't the guy. Maybe Brandon Harris is. They'll need him to be to beat Auburn. Last year Auburn's offense didnt get off to a fast start early in the season but progressively got better as the year went on. Same is holding true so far this year. They havent looked out of this world on offense. LSU may be catching them at the right time. By the end of the season not sure LSU could slow them down enough.
btw... check out Auburn's next 6 games. LSU, @Miss St, South Carolina, @Ole Miss, Texas A&M, @Georgia. That's brutal! and oh btw they end the year @Alabama. No way they run the table. Just not possible. No team in the country has a stretch like that.
Texas A&M at Miss St - game 3. Dan Mullen finally got that big win. Can they keep it going? Miss St looks good but they do seem a bit one dimensional. Prescott does have a little bit of that Tebow in him. Not a great passer but good enough to go with a great running game. A&M didnt look as hot against the Hogs. Defense is still their achilles heel. Coulda shoulda lost yesterday. Not sure what to make of this game. Wouldnt be surprised if either team wins.
Stanford at Notre Dame - Irish looking pretty good. Granted they havent played anybody yet. This is their first really tough test. Last year they almost beat Stanford at the Farm. Not sure Stanford is as good this year and Notre Dame clearly looks better. I think I'm picking the Irish. They are a differnet team with Golson who is throwing his name in that Heisman hat.
Nebraska at Michigan St - Huskers are quietly 5-0. Havent really played anybody other than that game with the Hurricanes. And they coulda/shoulda lost to McNeese St. I think they finally get exposed and Michigan St beats them. Michigan St looks better offensively than I thought they would. They're a really good team.
Oklahoma at TCU - Horned Frogs are undefeated and have snuck in the top 25. I know Michigan stinks, but after seeing Minnesota run them out of the big house, it makes TCU's demolition of Minnesota look even better. TCU has blown everyone out this year. And OU didnt look all that good against West Virginia. Don't sleep on the Horned Frogs Bobby!
Utah at UCLA - This should have been a matchup of undefeated teams but the Utes somehow lost to Leach and Wazzu yesterday. UCLA looked shaky early in the year but came out of their shell against Arizona St last thursday. When Hundley is on he is pretty good. I still think they'll slip up somewhere along the way.
South Carolina at Kentucky - Not sure which Gamecocks team will show up. Or which Dylan Thompson will show up. Kentucky looked really athletic against Florida but Vandy's defense slowed them down. SC should win but Kentucky is showing some fight this year.
Florida at Tennessee - How the mighty have fallen. I actually like the Vols in this game. At least if Worley is healthy enough to play.
Miami at GaTech - this is the only ACC game I'm listing. And I'm only really interested in this because GaTech is still undefeated and the Canes are from Florida. Canes of old would have crushed this triple option. How the mighty have fallen.
Baylor at Texas - I'm only really interested because I want to see if Baylor hangs 70 on them. Texas' D actually slowed them down last year. And Strong is a good coach. You know Baylor is getting up for this more than Texas though. And they want to blow the Horns out in Austin.
Navy at Air Force - first of three games to decide the Commander in Chiefs trophy. Navy has won 9 of the last 11. Over the last 17 years, this game has determined it. Army hasnt wont the thing since the mid-90s.
Quote:Tradition.
I can't believe they would have a tradition with the Volunteers. As far as I am concerned Tennessee is just another SEC East team.

You aren't a graduate of the school either, they're not your traditions. There naturally are some sort of tradition with a team you play every year.

Ohio State traditions are:
Penn State every year (but the week varies)
Illinois every year, play for the Illibuck Trophy
Michigan is last game at alternating locations

Traditions are worth keeping!!

Some are, some aren't. I could not care less about when we play against Tennessee and Georgia, but FSU at the end is cool.
Anyway, I am hoping I can watch Ohio State play at Maryland for the first time.

I've only seen Ohio State in person once...and it was a wonderful game!!

I can't remember how many OSU games I went to.
Have the Buckeyes ever played against Maryland before?

I haven't a clue about that.
Ready for the "Elimination Saturday" hype? Not that this will be the only one, but 4 games between top 15 opponents is something that ESPN will hype the heck out of.
My top ones to watch are Notre Dame v. Stanford (because this is their biggest test before FSU), and Alabama v. Ole Miss (because I really don't think Alabama is as good as advertised and want to see if I'm right).
Tennessee - 24
Florida - 10

Sadly I am leaning to a Vol win too.Hope I am dead wrong, but Worley is legit. JTMoney, I will hold out all hope until years end, but I am fading fast.
