I don't let my actual family have family access to my Steam account, Why should you be any different?

Because I'm pretty awesome.
Windows 10 technical preview came out today, best of both worlds with the metro and desktop combined.

Yep, I was hoping they would combine the tile setup with the start menu. I don't know why they didn't do that earlier.
Quote:I heard it at H.H. Gregg. The clerk showed me an all-in-one monitor and said, "This is the direction they're going." In other words, CPUs are being phased out.
All-in-one systems are the direction that casual users are going (I would still argue that laptops and 2 in 1s are more prevalent than all-in-ones), but that doesn't mean in any way that CPUs are being phased out. All-in-one systems are systems where the monitor and the components of the tower are built into a single "box". One of those components is the CPU. Without a CPU your "all-in-one monitor" would be roughly as useful as mine is when it isn't connected to my tower.

LOL DF thinks so. I had no idea I was selling NFL jerseys.

Why don't they call it Windows 9?
Whenever Windows 10 becomes widely available, I am buying a new computer. The only reason I have not tried to get a new one yet is I read crap about Windows 8.
I've been WINDOWS WINDOWS WINDOWS WINDOWS WINDOWS for years. I'm staring at a WINDOWS screen right now. But I've conceded by now the reality that Microsoft just, sucks. Not even interested in 10. All these years it was about compatibility. MY SOFTWARE RUNS ON WINDOWS YALL!!!! But almost everything they do sucks. Office sucks. Media player SUCKS. Desktop sucks. Taskbar sucks. IE sucks. Other things they do haven't improved really for years. They even randomly locked me out of my outlook.com email account for 30 days after entering the CORRECT password. I just want out. Kinda stuck a bit, but I'm working on it.
(PS: I don't do XBOX so MAYBE they are good at that...)
REALITY: Probably stuck with these morons for a while and will have Windows 10 ... eventually

When I read there is no Start menu on Windows 8, I decided right then I don't want it. The idea of not having a Start menu after all these years (since 1997) looked really stupid to me. The guy I talked to at H.H. Gregg explained they did it to give users a fully customizable experience. So why didn't they just make the Start menu customizable? If they are bringing it back in Windows 10 I cannot wait to get a new computer.

Office isn't that bad lol, if you dare feel adventurous there are many free linux distros, there are ways to run osx on a pc also but I wont go into that lol.

As to why they changed the name, I haven't a clue the only thing I can think is to distance themselves from 8, but as to you buying a computer, if I'm not mistaken 10 will be a free update to those that have 8.

Blatant, obvious, horrible quality fake NFL jerseys. That is if it wasn't just a straight up scam.

So what I need to do is hope the price of a real one goes way down after they become more widely available because even Blake Bortles is not worth $300. I am screwed.

It pains me that installing one of the million Linux distros is a viable option right now for me. In fact, one of the more desirable ones. OSX was never an option (Windows disappoints me, but Apple makes me want to grab a baseball bat). I've ALWAYS hated Office. ALWAYS. When I hear somebody screaming at the computer I know exactly what software there are using.
I will say in contrast that Microsoft Lync is pretty good. Never had a problem with Lync. So I'll give them that.
Here is an interesting thoery for Microsoft skipping the name Windows 9:
http://www.cnet.com/news/is-this-why-mic...indows-10/
Basically, it would have created compatibility issues with programs that were built to operate on 95 and 98. However, Microsoft did not say that is why they chose to skip it and call the next version Windows 10.

Maybe. But when a company owns the internet and all of computing, and then finds themselves on a slow path to irrelevancy in the very areas they dominated I think they've at least done something wrong. Microsoft is becoming something people use because they have to. Apple still has a rabid fanbase, but in my experience, you have to use their stuff in a very specific way or else it's a nightmare.
With that said, I don't necessarily have problems using these products, I just don't really think they are very good. All the alternatives to what they offer have caught up.

Microsoft doesn't even remotely own all of the internet or all of the computing.

Past tense. IE, Office, Windows
used to dominate their markets. Now they are all in a major decline, and have been for years, and possibly on a path to irrelevancy. Windows 10 is a desperate attempt to avoid it.
Obviously they didn't own the internet and computing literally. But there was a point when IE had like 95% market share, and every website had to run through it. And there was a point when software had to run on Windows, or nobody would even buy it.
It was just a matter of time that the competition caught up. But stuff like Windows 8 and completely dropping the ball on the mobile market are proof they are partly responsible for their own demise.
