Thanks for proving my point.

And your last thread, Patriots in talks with Blackmon about future, was a real winner.

Keep livin' the dream.

Quote:I know that I made a thread similar to this a few weeks ago, but now my opinion has changed. I was giving Gerhart the benefit of the doubt, seeing as if I had never seen him start a game in the NFL. But now I think we can all agree that the dude is slow and ineffective. I understand that our line is trash (it has been for the past 6 years) And that he supposedly his ankle was hurt. But if you're given the title of a starting RB in the NFL, and getting paid the money you are, then you are expected to rise above excuses and mediocre performance, and make a damn play. His numbers were pathetic.Since our inception as a franchise we have had some of the best RBs the league has seen in recent memory . And for this franchise to just pay some unproven backup and magically make him our guy baffles me. Put Denard and Todman in, at least they're not overpaid bums

I love when some yahoo comes on a message board and calls a professional football player an "overpaid bum".

The comedy never ends.
Never thought he was a good pickup to begin with. As said already, good power back for goal line runs, but not as an every down back. He won't last very long.

I'm not sold on Gerhart yet.  I'll wait and see -- but I wonder how many people defending him would be worried if he were the starting RB for the dolts/tacks/tinhorns.  I hope I'm wrong.  I'm just not sure I am yet.  Hopefully we see things improve soon.

Give him a few games before you pass judgment. Once the O-line is able to open some holes for him, I expect him to show some skill in scootin' down field. Even as a baby he was a lil scooter, though his field of vision was somewhat limited...

I just recently posted my first thread.  It was the thread where I said I played the Jags D in my fantasy league and got 7 points.

Greatest.  Day.  Of.  My.  LIFE

The Great White Nope.
He'll probably be OK for a straight ahead power runner, but he doesn't appear very quick or elusive to me.  Don't look for him to break loose for any big gains like MJD or Fred Taylor could.

Better than a Great White Dope
I think the best we may get out of Toby would be in the 70-ish yards/game. With a short yardage TD rush or catch every now and then
Boy, a lot of insight already gained after a whole one game. And a suspect offensive line to boot.

Can we at least give him eight games until we call him a failure?

This is exactly what I have been saying.  There is not a back in the league who could of run behind that line.

Adam the apologist rarely takes a day off.

Normally, I would take the approach you speak of above, but clearly after YES one game, I can definitely say that Gerhart is not an NFL caliber runningback in our system. As someone alluded to in another thread, the guy runs in slow motion. I see Denard getting the start sooner rather than later.

You should leave it any BB should start thread. More the reason to start BB if we cannot run the ball.

So what are we tanking?
He is a fullback.
If you convert him to FB in Madden, his rating goes up to like 90 OVR. Bradley's doing it wrong.

Apologist? You mean - not stupid?

I'm sure you are much more of a football expert than Bradley and his staff (you mean he still hasn't called you?) but what does it tell you that they still went to Gerhart, sore ankle and all, rather than Robinson or Todman?
Well as a fan of the NFL I watched Gerhart play in Minnesota and not just when he put on a Jaguars uniform... he is perfectly capable of being a high level running back. He is a bruiser not a home run threat that we got from Fred Taylor or MJD in his prime.

I like him as a complementary back or a back of shared duties ... not a full time feature back.

Next year, bring in Gurley and then you have a good 1-2 punch.
