Quote:Maybe I was overly anxious while I was watching that fourth down, and I did jump out of my seat... But it looked to me that Marcedes got his hands on it... You are right, the ball was lofted pretty high, I do remember that. But it seemed to me that Marcedes had a chance at it...
Am I mis-remembering this?
A better TE would have caught that pass.
However a better QB would have also thrown a better pass...
Quote:Pfft... he played well enough to win. He didn't part the waters for their draw up the middle for the score, nor did he ask Prosinksi to blow coverage so badly for a second.
The New Usual SuspectsTM seem to have canned their responses well in advance no matter what actually happens on the field. Predictable, and will be interesting to continue to watch going forward.
No, he didn't. The defense played out of their mind in the first half and gave the team the edge. They couldn't repeat that performance in half 2 and we saw Chad Henne play like he has for years. Inconsistent. There were a number of aspects that contributed to the fallout in the 2nd half and you're foolish to say Henne played well enough to win. That's a copout answer. He's not good enough to be an NFL starter. Period. He's shown that for what, 7 plus years now?
Call me what you want with your little childish names but it doesn't make your opinion anymore right. I've been consistent with my opinion that Henne isn't good enough for a while now. It's not a canned response, it's the truth. The team feeding us their line of crap about being confident in Chad annoys me even more.
I'd bet the players don't have the same confidence in Henne as a starter. We won't know it because nobody is going to be dumb enough to come out and say it but how could that not be the case? These are men who are competitive by nature and want to win. You don't think their effort can be influenced by having Chad Henne vs the young rookie that played very well in the preseason? They know what they have in Henne and it isn't good enough. I don't care what you call me or what you say, that's the absolute truth.
Quote:You and FBT...like clockwork around here.
Henne played as usual. Inconsistent, passed batted down, etc.
The guy is asked to do too much when being a full time starter. He's not capable of sustaining a high level of play for an entire game, I swear.
You got that right with the first sentence....
and regarding Henne, the batted pass thing is what infuriates me the most with him. It happens so much to him, you'd think he was like 5'5".

I can't remember in my time watching football a QB that has had that issue like Chad Henne. It's frustrating and it continues to happen over and over again.
Quote:He sure doesn't look like a future Belichick type, thats for sure. More rah rah than cerebral. Kinda like another defensive minded HC we used to have.
Kinda like the one who just won a Superbowl.

OK, I don't want to sound like a broken record here... But I want to say that when the game plan was loose and agressive Henne was throwing the ball alot different. In the 2nd half when things tightened up in regards to the offensive scheme, Henne literally looked like he was trying to pop the ball with his grip.
You mention the batted passess. They showed a replay of a batted pass, and I was watching Henne's grip and his motion. He really looked like he was wound so tight to be perfect with the ball that he just didn't look relaxed like he did in the 1st and 2nd Quarters...
I don't know, that's obviously on Henne. But if a coach is whispering in your ear to reign it in and that you MUST not make any mistakes, it can have an effect on a lesser QB. Henne is a lesser QB, but when things are loose, he actually plays respectable.
I'm just wondering if maybe next week, they just keep the gas on, we might have a better result.
Yes, keeping the play calling aggressive and loose may result in turn-overs, but hey, maybe now that we have these special WRs things will be different for Henne....

I remember Chris Simms with the bucs had the same problem 06 or 07 I think right before he got injured, like 3-4 games at the beginning of the season where it was like volleyball.

It's ridiculous. He's not short, so this tells me he cannot work the pocket, side step to find the throwing lane. But according to some I'm a troll bc Henne sucks..

same thing happened a lot with Gabbert....which is even more inexcusable since I think he was even taller than Henne.
They both have this habit of making themselves smaller in the pocket. Bortles doesn't do that.

Henne has zero pocket awareness. He doesn't step up to avoid the blitz. Also, with the batted passes, I shook my head in dismay as the Eagles defender came flying through the air past the line of scrimmage and Henne threw the ball RIGHT INTO HIM. How do you not see this guy coming? No awareness at all.

I remember that exact play....I had the same reaction as you....well, and adding in some expletives.

Sorry, but he did play well enough to win the game.
The defense, and running game did not.
You simply can't handle the truth, because you don't want to hear it.

If there was any Gabbert in the game, it was Foles. He made one big play (like Gabbert's against Reggie Nelson) but not much else was impressive.

So what's your excuse for it not happening in the first half?
Nothing to do with crediting the Eagles D where due?
Nah... couldn't be that...

I see what you are saying, but it's EVERY game that it happens. It's not just the Eagles D, it's the other 31 Ds in the league.
Henne played well in the first half. Not so much after that.

I can handle the truth just fine. Henne played good enough to win 1st half. Not good enough in the 2nd half. How can you even dispute that is beyond me.
This is no different than the Henne we have seen in the past. The only thing Henne does consistently, is play inconsistently.
Who could it be other than Henne? Aside from the final garbage time drive he had thrown for like 60 yards in the second half. Thats inexcusable for a NFL qb. Its pathetic. But its who he is.

I don't understand why he is defending Henne so much...

the defense is the ONLY reason we were even in position to win the win the game.
they put is in scoring position on 2 turnovers.
when philly started their own comeback (after cyprien and poz were hurt) - our offense went 3 straight 3 and outs. The fans were back in the game, philadelphia's offense couldn't wait to get the ball back.... and we kept going 3 and out over and over again.... sprinkle in some inability to get the play off in time to burn 3 timeouts, and you'll see why Henne is being critiized. I'm not saying he is the main reason we lost.... but I'm saying that the QB position needs to improve. He made a few nice throws, yes.. He made some terrible throws and terrible decisions as well and we drafted a guy that is supposed to actually improve that position.
if you're happy with Henne's average-at-best play, that's fine. I'm not. Especially when we have the #3 overall pick sitting on the bench that has played lights out in pre-season.
If you expected the defense to continue to play like they did in the 1st half, you would have probably seen one of the most dominant and surprising performances in NFL history
I nominate the idiots on the msg board going all negative nancy on everything that went wrong.
we played good one half and bad the second not any individule but the whole team including coaches.
last year we didnt even play good in one half untill the Denver game.
lets give it more then one game most of yall predicted less then 6 wins this season and when we lose you are all nuuuuuuuuuuu.
with what i saw today i can see us challenging for the division this year and winning more then 6 games. but then im an optimist. :teehee:
