Bortles>Wilson at this point in his rookie season.

Now that is some serious fan optimism if I do say so myself.
One is a SB winning QB and one hasn't even taken 1 snap in a regular season NFL game.
Wilson just happened to fall into the perfect situation for him.
He's good, esp for a player entering his 3rd year, but he has a great team around him and that helps him out by not having to carry the team each and every game.

THats debateable.
I'm guessing you don't remember that Wilson looked very impressive in camp/ preseason as a rook, thats the whole reason he overtook the starting gig so soon.

But you yourself said BB would start week one if not for the porous offensive line we currently employ, constituting this statement invalid.

You 2 are going of hindsiight. Blake makes throws that Wilson can't. Bortles would win a Super Bowl as a rookie with Seattle's roster. 2012 jags are 5-11 with Wilson.

The question is how long OUR roster can compete with theirs. Any good quarterback can win the Super Bowl with the Seahawks. They made a third round pick look better than a former NFL MVP.
Of course, somehow Gus Bradley is bringing his former players to Jacksonville when they are cut or become free agents, so we already have a few guys who own Super Bowl rings.

Lets be real. Wilson had about as much to do with winning that SB and Dilfer did in 2000. Not saying Wilson is on Dilfer's level, but Wilson certainly isn't an elite QB and hasn't made those throws that wow you. He is also very inaccurate on his deep balls.
I like Wilson. He is my FF QB, but I also grabbed him in the 10th round.
Also, SEA has a corner that Aaron "Freaking" Rodgers didn't throw at ONE time. ONE time.

I was surprised with how easily the Seahawks put down GB. If Jax played Sea, the score would probably be about the same as last night's in Seattle's favor.

Quote:What's the gap between the caliber of the Seahawks and the Jags?
Several light years, the Seahawks arguably have two future hall of famers (Thomas and Sherman) in their secondary, they have incredible disciplined quick twitched athletes at linebacker, the middle of their defensive line (Mebane, McDaniel’s etc..) is beastly, and they can rush the passer with multiple edge players (Irvin, Avril, Bennett), the Seahawks defense is looking like one of the better ones in the history of the NFL, they're that good. They shut down every offense they come across, all while playing in a league where offense typically dominates. Their offense is incredibly underrated, Marshawn Lynch is special, so is Russell Wilson and Percy Harvin, the Jaguars have a long way to go before closing the gap talent-wise on a team like Seattle, it wouldn't surprise me if they won they next 2-3 superbowls. The good thing is we seem to have found a franchise QB, which makes the journey a lot easier.

Doug Baldwin got his front teeth knocked out in the final seconds of that game trying to make the winning touchdown.

Edit: I think the extra time out given to Seattle is what really caused all the fervor over the fail mary.

This article was written before the Super Bowl.
Quote:
“Kam Chancellor right now is as good as any safety that’s played in the game of football,” Lott said. “It’s hard for me to say this, but there was only one guy that I know that’s better and that’s Kenny Easley. He was defensive player of the year and best player to play the safety position, ever. He is getting to close to being in that community of greatness. And that is hard for me to say that because I have the utmost respect for Kenny Easley. That group, those two (Chancellor and Thomas), they’re playing at that level.

I like Wilson but there's nothing too special about that throw. Dropped back...no rush and threw it up...slightly under thrown.

The good news for the Jaguars is they have a legit quarterback. I cannot understate enough how important that is.
And I believe in this defense. They are my backup defense on my fantasy football team...to Seattle.

I doubt Jags ever get to that level. We're nowhere near them. Light years away.

I think the Jaguars could win their division next year.
Everybody talks about how the Seahawks are going to have to pay Russell Wilson next year, but Andrew Luck is going to demand the same deal.

the seahawks are better in every facet right now. its not close. their depth makes the gap bigger.
wilson is really undervalued by some poster here. they dont throw the ball 40 times a game so you dont see eye popping numbers, but he commands the offense very well. extremely cool under pressure. he actually didnt even look that sharp last night but normally his accuracy is ridiculous. when he rolls out of the pocket hes dangerous. anytime he decides to tuck it and run hes dangerous and he also is a very quick decision maker with a quick release.
seattle does not win the superbowl without him.
