Quote:Wow, so we are arguing over who should be a team captain? Sunday can't get here fast enough!
wait till this thread get's derailed into a discussion about the color of the "C" on the captain's jersey. Clearly black would increase fatigue....

Quote:Scobee, Poz, and on offense, oh boy:
- Lewis is not a leader, maybe in blocking...
- Shorts is in a contract year and may be let go, see above
- Henne is playing the Henne card, that guy we have that can do what we need by the barest minimum of standards
- Beadles has an outside chance but I see a captain as someone who engages their team on the field, on the sidelines, in the community, and probably most importantly someone who isn't on the bubble to be removed from the starting lineup or the team in the next 12 months.
So, I'll go with Henne playing the Henne card.
Even if they were to let Shorts walk in free agency after the season, which I doubt, he's certainly not going anywhere this season and probably should be the Captain.
Defensively Poz would seem automatic, although Red Bryant has pretty much established himself as the leader of the DL.
Scobee is a no brainer on Special Teams.

Quote:He initially awarded 3 captains that year....and one of them didn't include Mike Peterson (which was probably JDR spite to begin with) so there allegedly was unrest in the locker room and JDR comes out days later and awards 3 more captains with Peterson being amongst them....
You make of that what you wish. I see it as caving.
Oh and you never did answer the simple question.....do we still have 6 captains or did we go back to 3?
I thought the players voted in their captains.

If the players voted for it then why would the outrage have occured and forced Del Rio to name 3 more captains for a total of 6?

Reading this thread makes me want to visit Captain Morgan.

Quote:If the players voted for it then why would the outrage have occured and forced Del Rio to name 3 more captains for a total of 6?Ultimately the head coach decides how the team captains are selected. Whether or not the players vote is his discretion.
Del Rio never added 3 more captains. He had 5 and the players wanted him to add Peterson so he did.

Quote:Maybe you should stop being a fan of 16 teams and just focus on a few.
How many teams I root for is irrelevant. Even if I only rooted for the Jaguars, I still would have no idea Jason Babin is out of Jacksonville.

Nobody will have a C patch on his jersey. They are all wearing a 20th season patch where that one goes.

Quote:Any idea who the team captains are this year?
I'd venture
Offense: Henne, Shorts
Defense: Poz, Cyp, Red
Special Teams: Scobee
Offense: Bortles (Might take until week 3 probably not later)
Defense: Big Red Bryant

Dropping knowledge.
I'm outraged! The trend has shown no team has ever won a game with a 20 badge instead of C designating captains. Why must we continue to tempt fate?

I don't recall reading about any "outrage", and that's the type of story one would probably remember. Link something for us, oh great Malcontent Chihuahua, and back your words up or stop spitting them out.

Are you saying it is a bad idea just because the Panthers are not doing it? I personally don't care because I don't remember our captains wearing C patches anyway.

lol chad henne

Big Rob, it is OK because he is the quarterback for all of 2014 unless something happens to him. Gus Bradley is still adamant that Henne will start all 16 games if he can.
