Quote:Not impressed by either to warrant a top 5 selection.

Pass.
Are you not seeing top 5 talent from Hooker?  FS prospects with his skillset are rare so curious what you're seeing.

Id take Adams over Hooker

Not physical enough for my liking. FS or not, top 5 talent (for DBs) better be physical and help in run support.

His skill set seems a bit one dimensional so what warrants a top selection on Hooker, if I may ask you directly?

Because his one dimension is an extremely valuable asset and his weakness isnt bad enough to outweigh that

So you agree that he is one dimensional.

How many dimensions are there for a FS? If you're strictly saying pass defense and run defense (and weighing them the same) then I guess it's fair to say he is one dimensional, but that's hardly fair.
A guy i haven't heard anything about this year after some rated the top CB last year is Desmond King. How was his season and where do you guys think he'll end up going in this deep draft

he would be a good corner if we ran a cover 2, he looks slow though
Some people have King listed as a safety even.

to steal KYs line, how many dimensions are there for a safety?

Hes an elite cover guy with meh run support. One of those skills is more important than the other for the position and its the one hes good at, so im not sure what your point really is.

Deion Sanders and Ed Reed were also one dimensional.

The point is simple: If I spend a top 5 pick on a DB, he better be able to defend the run and pass at a high level.

I don't see how that is even an issue. Ramsey is a good example: he lays the boom and he can cover. No issue selecting him top 5.
For a team that goes 9 games without a pick, it would be nice to have someone who is a ball hawk back there. Safety at 4 seems a bit of a reach to me though too. I think we need pass rusher and if we can't get elite talent at 4, I would try to trade back. Maybe you can get Hooker or Adams closer to 10-15 instead of at 4.

Possible that one of them goes at 15, but no guarantee.  Plus, if there aren't any elite players at 4, who in their right mind is going to trade up with us?

Somebody who is willing to overdraft a quarterback. This seems to happen almost every year despite the poor results.

You've got 3 QB needy teams ahead of us and the Titans (who don't need a QB) behind us.  I think it'd be unlikely they would trade with us.

So youd skip on elite cover skills and range at a vital position to take a lesser player because his 2nd skill isnt good enough? Would you pass on a von miller level rusher because his run defense was less than stellar too?
Adams looks like a freak show. Safety version of Jalen Ramsey. Would be fired up if he was the pick.

No.

LSU safety Jamal Adams had an 8.9% missed tackle rate this year. Alabama LB Reuben Foster had a missed tackle rate of 12.2%.

This isn't a knock on Foster. Just a demonstration of how dominant Adams was, despite having to make tackles in space more often in his role

Keanu Neal missed 17.5% of his tackles at Florida last year while playing in a similar role to Adams, and was still a 1st rd pick of Falcons
