Unless Doss just blows em away with some PR duties I think his spot is lost because of Hurns stepping up big and Brown seemingly a favorite of the coach staff.
Maybe Taylor goes to PS and they keep Doss? I dunno. I think he's gotta show up in this preseason game 4. I just can't see why they'd keep a guy who hasn't been able to show much.
Last season they got Trufant in Vet FA and he was cut...

The best thing for the Jags moving forward is to have Robinson become a true number one. I think if he can emerge as the season goes on, we can snag a pick for him. I'd hate to just lose him.

Ace is nothing more than a gadget player. His small size will never allow him to be more than that in the NFL.
I think you're shortchanging these guys if you think their size will limit them. Ace Sanders is kind of on the small side but Wes Welker isn't exactly a giant and he's had a pretty decent career. Lee on the other hand is 6' and about 195, not a big reciever but plenty of size to be dominant provided he's got the intangibles needed.

I agree with him, at the WR position small WR usually don't dominate. Theres always exceptions and you pointed one out in Welker, but the norm doesn't show many of them.
I personally think drafting smaller WR is a waste in todays game.

Totally agree, the Rams surely regret taking Tavon Austin with the 8th overall pick last year, you need an extremely accurate QB throwing to guys that small due to the miniscule catch radius. I do believe Brandin Cooks will be good in NO though, he was a beast at Oregon State and played a lot bigger than his size, he reminds me of Steve Smith.

As with most positions, all else being equal, you usually prefer the guy who's 6'5", 220 over the guy that's 6', 195 but there are enough smaller, very productive recievers in the league to make it more than an exception.
I dunno about Ace but Lee could ultimately be a Greg Jennings-like player for us and I'd be pretty happy with that.

It doesn't have to be just 6'5" 220 though.
I'd easily rather have a receiver 6' 1 or 6' 2" than those 5' 9 or 5' 10"
Jimmy Smith was 6' 1" , 207. Thats enough.
I wouldn't draft a WR at less than 6', 200" in todays game.
The numbers are good right now where Lee doesn't have to be great game one. If he can step it up, then we will see that great stable of receivers take off.

the team has had some poor talent at WR for a long time... having average to above average at WR right now with promise from the rookies to maybe be better has us all feeling as if the WR core is stellar.
I almost forgot those names. But wow, we were pretty sad at the WR position during those years.
Wonder how much impact Sullivan has had over Hurns production opposed to his game just translating to the NFL well. Hope the results stay the same in the regular season and even gets better.

I've said it before, if Hurns is not starting week one it's a travesty and a total disservice to him, given his production against 1st team defenses thus far.

If Hurns were put on the practice squad, he wouldn't last a day before some other team snatched him up and then laughed at us for even putting him there.
I wonder if Gus ever plans on using Lee at PR/KR and then having Shorts, Lee, Robinson, and Hurns active on game day.
