Quote:Didn't the 49ers announce they will only keep 2 QBs? If Gabbert makes the team, they have to have three QBs.
To be fair, if they keep Gabbert, you can hardly call him a Quarterback.

Maybe he can be a kicker.. Or a punter.. Hey why not, you're playing with house money in the preseason..

I would take Tebow over Gabbert.

I can see it now.. Gabbert sees The Turk at the other end of the locker room. Gabbert freezes like a deer in headlights. In a panic he looks left and right as his knees instinctively buckle and he crumples in a ball at The Turk's feet in the fetal position. Over the sounds of his own whimpering he hears, "Coach wants to see you. Bring your playbook."

I think we should be grateful for Chad and Blake and forget about the rest of those losers.

Watching the 49ers and Broncos game. The play after Gabbert throws 5 yards behind his receiver he throws another short pass that sails high through the receiver's up stretched hands.
PBP guy: Yeah, that pass needs to come way down.
49ers CEO (who happened to be in the booth): I agree. He looked really good in practice yesterday.
Geez, where have we heard that before.

I have a feeling Dave Caldwell sent videos of Gabbert's practice to the 49ers and was like "See what he's capable of!"
And the 49ers were like "Wow, he looks good in a red jersey."

I would take Chad Henne over Tebow AND Gabbert.
I mean over EACH of them, and I would take 1 Henne over having both of them on the roster.
How's that?

So Henne = Tebow x Gabbert?
Seems accurate

And the schadenfreude party rolls on.
Who cares. He's gone. So is MJD. I bet many hope for his demise as well, after years of yelling Drewwww.
Gabby. Sunshine. All the cute nick names. Fickle doesn't come close to describing some fans.
I'm guessing many need validation predicting his downfall. After all, if he would have re kindled his career, then the local prognosticators would have to search for another in the blame game.
For those who fail, there are those who succeed elsewhere. There's just less celebration.
I remember many here saying cheer the front of the jersey, not the back.
Move on.

Quote:And the schadenfreude party rolls on.I hope Drew does well in Oakland, but I tend to doubt he will. The miles on those wheels have been slowly catching up with him, and I'm not sure he can rise to the point where he can be anything close to what he once was.

As far as Gabbert is concerned, if his failure as the starter here leads us to the promised land with a true franchise QB in Blake Bortles, I'm fine with that. The suffering will have been worth it in the end.

Wise man once said, "No...your punishment must be more severe."
Never want to see a man fail but there is a sense of smugness seeing the guy stink it up for another team.

Quote:Wise man once said, "No...your punishment must be more severe."I find it rather disappointing because the kid looked like he had all of the tools, and just needed time to refine his game. I never expected him to get so rattled that he'd never recover, but it appears that's precisely what happened.

I don't mean this in a personal way, its purely about football....but I hate Blaine Gabbert. That was the worst football I've ever watched in my life, and I've seen a lot of Pop Warner

Physically sure. Mentally he appears to be broken and i'm not sure that can even be 100% blamed on the Jags/Del Rio/Mularkey.

I feel bad for the guy, but I can't feel too bad. He got paid more money than my wife and I will make in our lifetimes to do something he enjoys (but does really badly) for just a few years. I'd feel worse for him if he looked like he was starting to get it together, and then got cut. But he's not making any signs of improvement, and I think he just doesn't have the demeanor to play at the NFL level. He's going to be a target of ridicule for a long time from this fanbase -- and I think that's completely fair. It's the cost of going into the NFL. Especially for a QB. He'll be the butt of Jag fans jokes until someone does worse. Ryan Leaf is still the butt of jokes in San Diego after all.
