Quote:Give him a good QB and he breaks records in those "good games"

He might have had 400 yards in that Houston game with a "good" QB.

ya ok sure

whatever.

Chad put the ball where it needed to be each and every time.  In fact, he actually forced some throws to JB, but Blackmon was able to come away with it.  Please don't imply that Blackmon got 236 yards IN SPITE of Henne.

In fact you could make a better argument saying that a good QB would have spread the ball out more than Henne did.

Actually I remember a few occasions in that game where Justin was open and Henne missed him. That would have been more opportunity to pad the numbers he already had.

That happens every game with every receiver and every QB.

You could also make this argument:

If Blackmon wasn't caught from behind on his first long pass, he would have had more yards.
All I know is:

Blackmon, Lee, Robinson

could legitimately be the best NFL WR trio ever. Topping the Washington Redskins Clark, Monk and Sanders.

The potential definitely is there.  Too bad Blackmon can't be counted on.

Maybe if he felt some love from the fans rather than crap like some of the people have posted here it would be more motivation to come back here and get things right.

Please.  That pises me off.

He was treated with genuine excitement.  HE is the only reason he's not playing right now.  WE fans have cheered him on as much as anyone could have/would have.

I've read some really scathing posts on here while he's been suspended. No, not on this thread but before.

The dude has problems. Hating on him isn't solving those problems.

Every NFL fan base will have people commenting negatively, even "hating" - on all of their players.

To imply, like you did, that the fanbase may be partially to blame for Blackmon not being back is simply ridiculous on your part.

Not trying to enact blame but just think support would work better than hate at this time. If you were in your hour of need would you react better to people hating on you or showing support?

The vast majority of the fans have supported him.

The vast majority of the fans will welcome him back.

He's in the NFL.  Being suspended multiple times will get you criticized.  If that is too much for him to handle, then he doesn't have the mental make-up of being a professional NFL player.

I don't see him being villainized like you.

Can you imagine if he was in a big market team that is actually competing?  Imagine he's playing for the New England Patriots... and he gets suspended - and they miss him enough in their playoff push.  He would get crucified.

Blackmon hasn't been criticized as much as he could have been had he been playing for a competing team in a big market.
One of two things here:

1) someone didn't like the pick to begin with

2) someone has decided to convince themselves of something

JB can't be counted on. If you aren't hoping for a miraculous comeback, you hate freedom, babies, and clearly Justin.

To say that he isn't an awesome talent is RIDICULOUS. As far as on the field, he JUST HAS IT. The IT to have amazing body control that is elite. The IT to have amazing hands. The IT to know how to get open. The IT to see the field like few can.

It is too, bad, at this point he doesn't have IT between the ears.

Many guys never come back. But some of those that do always do for someone else. Jimmy. Chris Carter. Irving fryer. Not many others.

What is there really to lose by hoping he'll get his life together?
This is simply a case of just watching the player play and realize what you are seeing. The guy can play and has potential to be a top 5-10 wideout. I saw that with my own two eyes and no box score can tell me otherwise.

Quote:What is there really to lose by hoping he'll get his life together?

nothing to lose.  I think we would all love to see him back and 100% concentrated on football.
I would love to see him come back as a Jag and show us he is Elite. but who knows if that will ever happen again Undecided

And what about the fact that Blackmon had Gabbert/Henne throwing him the ball? You think Julio Jones would still put up the same numbers?
Please. Justin showed the ability to take over games, something that we haven't seen in almost two decades in Jacksonville. Players like that are rare and special.

Quote:funny that you left out the 9th game, where he had 1 catch for 9 yards.

Why would you leave it out, after all it did come after his breakout game against Houston?

We can't pick and choose with him.  It's too small of a sample size.  He can get shut out.  In fact, his last game in the NFL he was shut out.  The game before that, he also wasn't impressive.

I get the feeling that you emphasize certain games over others.

Those 8 games shouldn't count more than the production found in later games. He improved drastically, but it would seem as though you're more interested in the first games of his rookie season as a reason why the 2nd year receiver is overrated. It doesn't make sense.

He came within 10 yards of having 2 200-yard games for an 8 game span. That's quite remarkable.
