Make you tiers how you make your tiers. It is not an exact science. Just pick where you would want him to land based on how the tiers are set up.

The tiers are confusing. Russel Wilson is a tier 2 QB who'll eventually turn out to be tier 1 if he keeps getting better.

Wilson has only played 2 years.

Both Eli and Big Ben are two time SB winning QB's. They may not be the flashiest regular season players, but they've done it when it counted. 

 

If Blake brings just one SB to Jacksonville, he's worth the 3rd pick. 

He could end up in the same tier as Brad Johnson or Dilfer for all I care... if he brings the Jags a Super Bowl I would be ecstatic!

Not sure if I agree with the OP's tiers but I'd be happy if Bortles for us can be what Luck appears to be for the Colts.

I guess I should have went with Elite, Perenial Pro bowler, Sometimes Pro Bowler and Franchise QB.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. But maybe google the correct spelling of the names. Either way the point of your thread comes across so it doesn't matter to much. You at least put some thought into your thread before creatin it so kuddos to you.

Wilson is not a tier 2 QB by any stretch. He's basically a glorified game manager right now, and was even less so towards in the end of the season last year. He still has bad pocket presence and relies on his legs too much.

A QB we can win with.  I don't care how he plays as long as he wins games.  That is making critical plays at critical times.

He has a superbowl ring.  He made more than his fair share of critical plays

I think he should be good enough for us to constantly compete. he should never be a liability

I keep seeing this. Yes, he was the quarterback for a super bowl winning team, good for him, so were Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson. He wasn't close to being the reason they won that super bowl, and you could argue he wasn't even the 5th best player on that team. He was a game manager that played well enough for them not to lose the game, that's it. Being a super bowl winning QB alone is not enough to boost him into a conversation with QBs like Ryan and Romo, let alone Roethlisberger.

tbh I half expect Wilson to fizzle out in a few years. I think he'll have a good run for another couple years while that defense and the talent around him is still high, but once players start to leave and they go through that lull that guys like Brady and Big Ben are experiencing right now, Wilson will not be able to carry the team.

No one will care how he did it if he's 12-4 when he starts a full season. Well maybe unless it's in Trent Dilfer fashion. Just win and don't look terrible doing it.

Wilson is a good little player, but that's about it.


Seattle could have won the SB last year with 20 of the starting QBs in the league. Maybe more.

I doubt that. The guy makes the throw when it needs to be made. I saw him convert a ton of third downs in the Super Bowl and the playoff run. These are things that don't show up on stats.

Interesting discussion. I would be delighted if he ends up in those top two tiers, but as long as he turns out to be fairly solid, I think we have got value for our pick


I think we have to remember that many QBs picked up in the draft end up as failures. So finding one who is half-way decent could be seen as a success.


And think of it this way -we've used that third pick to give ourselves the best possible chance of getting a good one.
