I'm just giving my opinion. Bridgewater was the best prospect when it comes to picking apart a defense and playing QB like an NFL player should. The fact that he was passed until pick 32 just means there were other concerns, and those concerns (size, arm, personality) will be proven to be immaterial imo.
You could also say that UCF had a simple offense. There wasn't anything complicated going on there. Bridgewater played in a pro style offense, so if that is "simple" then ok.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Arians / Roethlisberger connection. He saw Roethlisberger develop as they both came on board in 2004. Perhaps he too sees a lot of similarities in Bortles that he experienced with Ben.

Qb's who can read and pick apart a defense but can't make the actual throw due to lack of arm strength end up being Chad Pennington or Ryan Fitzpatrick. You have to be able to do both.
Hopefully you are off the Teddy train now that he is a Viking and Bortles is a Jag.

It played to Teddy's strengths. Cudos for Louisville for realizing this. But now he's going to an offense that requires plenty of downfield passing, which Teddy needs plenty of work on.

Which of those guys are the noodle armed short passers? All of those guys chunk it up.
Throwing the deep ball is one of the easiest for weak armed QBs. Kenny Stabler was one of the best deep ball passers in NFL history, and he had a noodle arm. It's all about timing, trajectory and loft. Arm strength mainly comes into play when you're trying to throw that hard sideline intermediate routes and fitting it into a tight window between multiple defenders or before the CB completes his break on the ball. In general, I think NFL is getting away from those throws, as the risk/reward ratio is too lopsided. Peyton Manning and Drew Brees isn't making that throw anymore. I think they would both tell you that if they find themselves trying to fit a ball between 3 defenders on a frozen rope, something has broken down in the play or they've made the wrong read.

i see what youre getting at but i still disagree that teddy has a noodle arm, whoever is saying that. teddy has just as good an arm as peyton or brady. so i dont see it as a limitation.

Peyton does not have a strong arm anymore. Even he admits that. He gets by with accuracy, read progression and field vision to find the open man rather than trying to fit it into the covered man.

I don't know how good Teddy's arm was, that wasn't my point.
I was just pointing out that the NFL is NOT moving to noodle armed short passers. Deep passing is more important now than it's ever been with the changes to the rules that make downfield pass interference so easy to draw if you have a QB that can actually get the ball downfield without just lofting it up for everyone to go after as a jump ball.

yeah i figured. i didnt remember exactly who brought up the noodle arm. thats why i was saying whoever said that. QB is more important than ever and being able to at least be smart about taking the downfield shots is key.

Well im sure most of the Teddy lovers hates Bortles on the inside. Blake beat him in a game head to head, beat him at the combine, beat him at the pro day, beat him in the draft, and has a better looking girl. I call that a clean sweep. Teddy wants to be Bortles!
