Quote:Wow...
Teddy is no where near the arm talent of Manning... If he was.. Teddy wouldn't have gone 32
ok man, that argument is invalid. derek carr should have gone number 1 then, right? it doesnt make any sense.
you for some reason are just delusional so im gonna just stop arguing with you about players arm strength.
Based on where all the QBs were drafted, Arians opinion appears to be a reflection of all 32 teams as well.

Since when does draft position determine whether a guy will or wont be a "franchise" QB?

Hold up... I'm delusional yet you are the one that is saying Manning never had a good arm or that Teddy's arm is just as good as Mannings/Bradys?? That makes total sense.
If Teddy had this great arm you speak of AND he is able to pick apart a defense like some of you have said, why in the world did he drop to 32?

Manning never had elite arm talent. I didn't think this was news.
"He has good arm strength, but not necessarily a “gun” that you might expect from a QB at the top of the draft." - SI

It's definitely an indication of how the teams view the possible outcome. Considering a few of them are in dire straits at QB and yet the next wasn't picked until 22.

I'd say if any QB if picked in the first or second rounds, he is expected to be a starter.

But in one of Peyton's commercials, Peyton says he has a lazer rocket arm.

If a guy gets past the top 10 it means there's serious doubt about him ever being more than just adequate. Teams aren't normally looking for just adequate, they're looking for franchise.
Guys get drafted later because teams feel the risk of them turning out to be just another guy or a bust is acceptable at the current price.
The stronger the league perception of a prospect the higher he goes.

lol. I remember him saying that. I was thinking, "No...no you don't." He's no Flacco in that regard.

What does that have to do with him being a franchise QB? He very well could be.
And a team did trade up to get him in the first. To me that indicates somebody thinks he can be THE guy.

Nothing, just like Brees turned out to be great even though he went in the second round, some of the guys drafted outside of the top 10 this year could be, too. We're just talking about the perceived talent of guys. The draft position doesn't lie, teams didn't rate Manziel, Bridgewater, or anyone else in the draft, as likely to turn into franchise guys.
Quote:And a team did trade up to get him in the first. To me that indicates somebody thinks he can be THE guy.
After already passing on him earlier.
Like I said, they considered the price at that point to be low enough to take the risk, but if any of those GMs had the kind of faith in him that Caldwell has in Bortles they'd have taken him top 10.

Why do you still care about Teddy?

I know you are but what am I...
Because you're arguing about a player who isn't even on the Jags.... just sounds trivial to be honest.
There is one underlying fact here though: Teddy does not have the arm talent or arm strength that Manning had coming out. Fact.

I didn't say he did... go quote somebody else. You're clearly confused on who said what.

Never said you did bruh...
Bortles > Teddy all day every day.

can you pull up the factual documentation that shows how many mph they both throw at? or the psi produced when their shoulder muscle rotates? there is no "fact" about their arm strength besides that neither of them have ever been labeled as having a gun, or a cannon, or a strong arm. they can make all the nfl throws they need to make. thats the extent of it.
also who are you to dictate what people care about or argue about? if someone wants to talk about a player not on the jags, then let them. this thread is about who bruce arians thinks is a franchise qb from the draft. i guess you have nothing better to provide to conversation besides lambasting.
